So if I want colorful buds from AK Berry pictured above, cool night temps are helpful? That's caused by a phosphorus drop due to the plants declined ability to take up that nutrient in colder temps?

IMO...yes.....but try it for yourself...

@Johnny Quest did an experiment using food grade color dye in crushed iced on his plants; did a close up on the trichs afterwards and you could see the dye at the base of the trichs.
In the plant world they used to Dye white chrysanths with food colouring..so you would have a white chrysanth and a green/purple corona on the bottom of the petal..and coloured veins..where the food dye absorbed..so no surprise.....
