I'm late on my wake n bake today. Been doing math shit again. Worse than the rain. Here guys, give this a shot if you feel so inclined.
1. You are given 100 kg of ground corn stalk residue (C/N = 80:1) to add to your garden. You can assume that the residue is 50% C and that 70% of the C will be converted to CO2 during the decay process. Assume that the C/N ratio of microbial biomass is 7.5:1. Answer the following questions. Show all calculations.
A. How many kg of C have you added to the soil?
B. How many kg C are released as CO2?
C. How many kg of N have you added to the soil?
D. How many kg of N will be needed to completely convert the residue to new microbial biomass?
E. How many kg of N will be mineralized/immobilized?
LOL. Good luck.
