It is mostly false as he meant it, but I also understand where that idea could come from. The problem is illustrated by how hard it is to grow trilliums in pots, or transplant them. They evolved to a very specific environment where any change from the natural order spells doom. Plant it in the wrong spot, wrong soil, wrong light, wrong canopy, etc.... It is also true to an extent with cannabis, but we are WAY WAY WAY past the point in breeding where that should be a concern. It's a solid point though, and it can have small effects.
