I finally found out that water was the culprit of most all my problems growing weed. I now exclusively use distilled water or spring water and the plants have never been better. It does cost a bit more but it's very much worth it.

This time I'm growing a photoperiod strain that I got as a freebie from Attitude a while back. The Critical Cheese Dinafem is selling nowadays is described as mostly indica but when I got this seed it was still mostly sativa. Don't know what's up with that. It's something special for sure. As soon as it grew its first real leaves it started smelling really dank and even a bit like actual cheese.

My goal is to use some more advanced training methods to try and squeeze as much bud in my one square foot cab as humanly possible.

Pretty intense training as you can see. I topped at 16 days old. At 22 days I removed all 'primary' fan leaves and supercropped every shoot by twisting and pinching. Further defoliating was done on day 24 and I also rearranged the branches to grow in the best possible directions I could think of.

All the branches are now equally thick and I've really high hopes for a record harvest.

Day 28

Some slight nitrogen toxicity from last night's watering. Also, temps peak at around 90 degrees which is clearly causing some stress. The weather is getting cooler now so that shouldn't be a problem for much longer.

Now I know there is photoperiod strains being grown or should I say our photoperiod strains grown on AFN I will endeavour to look into these threads more :toke:

Some very aggressive training going on which has created a beautifully shaped plant with some nice potential budsites :toke:

I have seen this aggressive defoliation being implemented and the results so far look encouraging :toke:

Now I know that this thread is here I'll be back in on the next update.

Until then thank you for documenting your grow on AFN and thank you for the continued picture updates very much appreciated.

All the best

D-M.

@Dinafem-Mark great to have you on board!

Are you able to clarify what's happened since the strain was first introduced as Sativa-dominant? Has the genetic makeup changed since?

Day 35

The lights will now be flipped to 12/12. I feel this isn't very good progress to be made in a week. I might have gone a bit too far with defoliation. That or I had some Ca/Mg deficiency going on. I gave a watering with epsom salts and my home-made calcium (acetate) supplement a few days ago and the growth has seen a noticeable speed boost since then. I hope she'll stretch at least thrice as big once I initiate flowering. Fingers crossed!

Day 36

Correction to last night's post. I seem to have misinterpreted the water content in the pot by just weighing it. I watered properly for the first time in many days and a week's worth of growth took place overnight.

Day 45

Just kidding! Today isn't day 45... OR IS IT? :eek1:
In all seriousness, though, that WAS day 45. I've just been slipping with my weekly updates. :rolleyes1:

Here's today,

Day 56

The plant has really grown into a beautiful, fairly healthy bush and we're also getting some majestic bud formations already. Trichomes started appearing only a few days ago. I've done some light defoliation twice since the last time, this time only removing the most invasive leaves. I guess I had a bit of a fright last time when growth stalled and I didn't know what's up.

I ordered some 1-10-1 guano to go along with the BioBizz Bloom. It'll be interesting to see what it will do to the buds.
