Cool LST trick.

Hey guys and gals. I recently picked up this item from my local hydro store for LST. I tied my girl down and went along my business as usual. Then today I had an idea! The stuff I got was essentially a roll of bread tie. What I did was pull my plant down a little and twisted a loop into the tie. Now if I grab the loop and twist it works as a pulley system and pulls the branch down slowly. Check the photos to see what I mean.

Hey shovel. Yea I figured I would give it a try. I see a lot of others using thin metal and making hooks to pull branches around. This one got a little bigger than expect so I wanted to keep her short. I’m going to try to turn it so that the branch is facing downward at about a 45 angle.

Here's what I use. I like them because its like a splint for the branch (think like the one you wear when you hurt or break a finger) and keeps the branch from breaking when bent too far. Attaches with rubber bands, so they don't pinch the stems.

I wouldnt use that stuff!!! Sorry to tell you that, but very easy to cut and slice your girls. I use to use it and then I topped my plant on accident. Edges are way to sharp to recommend it, I switched to soft rubber ties. Much safer to use on something so important. Everything was fine with them until I cut my plant in half lol. Night and day difference between the 2. Even if you just make a loop for part that is touching plant. Not much more in cost, and never have to worry. Here is miracle grow brand but other make them as well. Stay lifted.

Another reason I like the stem trainers. If you want to train more, you can use the twisty ties and hook them to the plastic instead of your stems

I use rain science and fabric pot which I put grommets on. Run rubber tie from it to branch. I need to keep them low, more of a bush. With the trainer looks like they get little taller. I like how it works and the stability it seems to have. Would use when I have more space. Nice product for sure.

I usually run the trainers on my mothers and photo period plants. My next run of autos are going in these 2 gallons. Great minds think alike :d5:
