New Grower Confused about Flowering - Harvesting

Very healthu looking plant. You should wait atleast when leafs starts to yellow. Best answer you can find from link that JAYAR posted.

You have a beautiful plant that, based on the first photo, is 2-3-4 weeks from harvest ... since you have a scope to see the trichs it can be fun to watch them mature but I generally base my harvest time on the overall appearance of the plant ... post a photo every couple days and we'll tell you when she's done ... there is never a shortage of opinions here regarding harvest time ...
:toke:
Thanks Chester, I will post more pics of the plant and trichs over time. Hopefully around once or twice weekly. I am very interested in what you see in the overall appearance that clues you in to harvest time.

Thanks AK, I will be watching the leaf color closely and posting more pics of the plant and trichs between now and harvest. I am a bit color blind so I hope I can see what you and chester see. (we will see ha ha)

Looking good, definitely another few weeks as Chester says. Those fan leaves will all start to yellow. Once you ee the first couple of leaves start to yellow, you should probably think about starting to flush (next week to week and a half likely) with just plain water for the last 2 weeks to flush any nutrients that are stuck in the soil and in the plant.

And as stated above, definitely read u[p on the drying and curing info which can make a huge difference in the medications taste and potency.

I am a new grower and struggling myself to determine when to harvest myself. But your plants are in full flowering mode right now! Look at those beautiful chollas!!! The clear stalks you mention are the sugary looking crystals on the leaves near the buds and are tiny, perhaps a mm or less tall. No, the flowers do not fall off, you cut them and smoke them.:pass:
Thanks EEEcubed, As you can see from the conversation I found the trichs with your help. I am looking forward to comparing the overall plant appearance with the maturity of the Trichs. Checking the Trichs over and over is sort of a pain so knowing when the end is coming near will be a great benefit.

The tiny mushroom shaped stalks are the trichomes they contain the thc that gets you high. You need a jewellers loupe with at least 30x magnification (i would reccomend higher) to see the trichome heads. Good luck buddy. Any questions just ask and someone will help out. There are no dumb questions just dumb answers!

Chesters link is a great place to start reading up! Loads of great stickies to read on AFN
Thanks Sanguine,

Thanks Sanguine, I found the Trichs, I am having a hard time following grow journals and other threads because I am not used to the forum format and there is a lot of cross talk which gets me confused. Also I'm kind of an old guy which does not help. This question and answer format where I post a question and others answer it helps me much more. Hope that's not a problem for others in the forum. With all you guys help things are getting much clearer. Thanks, Mike

Updated Photos -- 7/23/14 Day 68 of expected 75 days to flowering. Leaves are starting ti turn lighter color but Trychs are still Clear or Milky. I'm going to wait a while till

I see the Amber Tips on the Trychs.

They look great man!

I didn't see where you identified the breeder. Did I miss it? The reason why I say this is that there are huge differences in WW depending on the breeder. From experience I have found some WW strains (World of Seeds in particular) that do not amber up as expected.

In any case, I agree. You can probably wait a few more days than begin a 2 week flush.

I will look up the breeder and post it later tonight or tomorrow morning

I got the seeds from "Seed Supreme" and they say the seed bank is "Dinaferna"
So what do you think. Should I be waiting for Amber Trychs ?? As for flushing don't know how affective that will be as it is growing in the ground in garden cultivated soil. Whats your opinion on that ?
Of the 5 seeds I purchased I have planted 2 and one of them turned out to be NOT AUTOFLOWERING ??
Mixed up seed I guess. It is huge and I have it in a grow tent attempting to get it to bud. I do not discuss that one because it is an aberration and I do not plan to grow Non-AutoFlowering plants. Just trying to make the best of it for this one plant. I am planning to use the grow tent in the winter for my autoflowering crops.
