colder temps, autos vs photos

If you know how to grow you should be fine and since you've already done work in that space before no one likely knows it better then you. I don't personally know that autos will fare any better or worse down there as they are far from their ruderalis roots modern day autos but I don't have the science I don't even really know who to tag for something like this as I haven't been around long enough. I'm sure though eventually someone will have the answers you seek but in the meantime I would say doing is the best way to learning. Maybe and hopefully you will be able to give some insight after doing both if wither fared better I would be interested to know anyways. Hope it works itself out for the better

Ya, I'm not too excited about growing Gorilla Glue......so, with the seeds I'm using its a risk I'm willing to take.

I won't plant RocBud seeds until my environment is easier to maintain (a few months)......In the meantime I'll run these shite autos.

That's kinda what im trying to do with learning some dwc. I had the beans im using for that and I didnt want to mess up my more personally desired beans. Once I figure it out then maybe.

My similar issues were years ago when I grew in a large shed, unheated, with mid south usa temps...just a space heater and 1500w hps for heat.....seemed autos did better, only a bit slow, as they're timing is genetic but photos didn't fare as well according to stage.
So my take is that while autos may slow down a bit with a cold cycle and affect yeild but potency is usually not affected much. Perhaps a mat to keep root temps above a floor temp.

Yeah. I have heated seedling mats. My plants never hit concrete, not even close. Have 3 mylar floors (2 from older 4 x 4's), have pallets too.

i'm growing in a storage room attached to my carport, that also has a metal roller door.
it's uninsulated so i came up with a few solutions.
first i bought some reflectix for the door and grow tent

had some envi heaters in the house that attach to the wall.just used the one right behind my tent.
home depot has some different brands that are cheaper.
the envi heaters don't heat as fast or high as most heaters, but they are pretty energy efficient and produce just enough heat.

went form 30f last week to now 75f yesterday with rain and high humidity.
had to adapt and buy a 50pint dehumidifier from facebook today.
now that problem is solved.
also cold temps had to buy a humdifier and bought a inkbird reptile humdifier, worked great so far,as it stays outside tent and has a long hose that goes inside.

hope this helps someone with environment issues.

ordered a tiny 400 watt Ceramic heater, hopefully it can raise my tent temps 8 to 10 degrees. If so I'll be fine.

I'm not too sure there are many rudy genes left in modern autos(or at least the good ones) Prolly better looking at the cold resistance of the photos in the mix. I switched to cob leds last year and have really struggled to keep temps at a goodish level this winter. Next winter I'm sticking with HIDs and running the leds sping/summer/autumn Big leaf temperature difference with HIDs All that infra red is maybe not so useless after all.

One of the most successful parts of my first grow has been using an oil-filled radiator heater. It's been indispensable and it's cheaper to heat the tent. I actually have it IN the tent on the lowest setting (600 watts) and in tandem with the lights it keeps the tent at 70 degrees in a 62 degree room.

Keep then fan low as possible. Restrict it if needed You are better to have a light that produces heat than a heater. If you can tap ff your furnace line in the basement it would be helpful. Insulation. I run the lights 24/7. running a 400 or 600-watt heater gets expensive. if it is a very small grow area you can use a small crockpot the ones that are 6 to 8 inches in diameter use about 100 watts. Remember heat rises so a fan blowing down from above the lights helps as well.
