One reason I'm venturing into autos is temps. I am forced to grow in our basement, temps range 50 to 59 degrees. Fahrenheit. Its a tough time of year in the North east.

In the past I have started photos, used space heaters at times and gotten results.......not ideal usually if started in Jan or Feb.

I am hoping the ruderalis present in the auto DNA will make it more resilient to colder temps then the norm. I'd like to use the space heater (infra red type) just the 6 hours when lights are out......Definitely won't use it more then 5-6 hours a day.

Should I wait a few months? Its hard to, talked my brother into growing this year (but hes growing on his 2nd floor, my house has no 2nd floor)........

My brother has the same issue only an old unfinished basement for space to use. He managed to get it so the heater is only on duron lights out and not even all the time. He is doing photos right now but autos up until now and he's using a tent now because that's his smoking space. OK I'm getting off track I had him do photos and autos down there and honestly the autos did really well maybe better in the colder months then summer I don't know why that is but hopefully they will give you the results you want.

Growth slows to almost a full stop in the 50s. If waiting is an option, wait. Outdoor is one thing ( I'd still wait) but indoor runs are costly (power nutes etc) and this will almost certainly end poorly. 59 degrees is about 20* off of optimal for autos under led.

My brothers temps were pretty much just in that range maybe a little lower during dark but not much as heater had a temperature setting.

The temps @Arthur mentioned I don't know if my message made sense.

An add on.

Todays autos have so little ruderelous in them... we've bred out most everything but the autoflower traits.
Very true which is one of the main arguments against 24 hours on that I have heard. Apart from extra cost is that it isn't really a ruderalis anymore but a hybrid.

If I was faced with this issue I'd look at hps lighting during the cold months. The infra red makes the optimal temps about 10 lower than led, so 72 to 76, run 18/6 with lights out thru the warmest part of the day. Set it all up and run it for a couple days and see if you can hold #s
60* during lights out wouldn't be an ender, but I'd try and get it up some... that temp drop will cause rH issues during flower. Raise the pots off the concrete to keep it from wicking heat out.

Have pallets, spacers, tables and an adjustable light. I made it work other January's with photos but it wasn't easy. I think I'll do dual solo cups (inner has bottom removed and both sides completely slit)... Had to veg a bit longer is all....5 gallon + 7 gallon fabric pots..

In a few days the seeds will hit soil......now in a glass of room temp tap water in a closet.

Issue will be you don't get to veg longer.!
so be prepared for small plants. Solo to start? Probably ok, I'd probably start them upstairs where its warmer. Move to the tent about day 14 or 15 and into final pots. A couple 3 gallons of soil will help hold the heat as well... so maybe thing 3 to 5 gallon. Have them all set up with the lights running so their at the "working temp" not coming up to temp. For transplant
