Colas vs pot size

I have done my first topping but I have no clue if I did the cut at the right node.
As I cut at 5th node I will get about 10 colas.
What I want to ask is if there are any thumb rule for how many nodes/colas that os reccomended per liter soil?
I guess a 10 liter pot handle a 10 colas better than a 2 liter pot

I grow in 5 litre pots, cut at 4th or 5th node and get 8 or 9 good colas about the size of a small coke bottle. I have average lights in a small space. I think it's as much environment as it is pot size. A bigger pot certainly makes a bigger plant.

Why target so few colas? 10 bud/colas is not much by my standards, with >20 but obviously smaller buds more the norm for me after LST. I presume you want bigger colas. But why?

Do you presume bigger colas are better than more smaller buds (I don't think so - all well-formed top/exposed buds at much the same level/height seem comparable in potency/quality)? Or do you think you get better yield with fewer colas (theoretically unlikely, such as with less % of surface area exposed to light)? Or do you need big colas for marketing/sales?

So 1 node per liter pot size can be used as a rule?

I have limited space so I need to do some topping.

If you look at @autobeast grows he cuts at 4th node I think in big pots. He gets a big plant with longer colas but the same number. If you have a small space then top, use smaller pots and LST all your branches.
