Heard a lot about Coco (coir).
Its a hydroponic and soil substitute modern day miracle.
It may be the new holy grail, Im not sure

Originally developed for Hydroponic, a good deal of effort is being put into it as a logical, organic substrate and substitute for soil. I do love those Dutch tomatoes.

I heard a lot of names tossed around, Canna being the most common. They seem to have invented a good deal of interest to the community: Rhizotonic for roots, Cannazym with enzymes and now Boost for foliar and that extra oomph.

Ive heard some terrible horror stories, as well. Lockups, pH problems, etc.

Anybody have any feelings or hard information about Coco?
:toke:

coco is just a soiless media its good but nothing special i think canna has nutes made for specfic for coco but most hydroponic nutes work

I am going to give coco coir a whirl my next run and yes it does have lots of bennies. Started doing my homework on it this evening. I'd say do your research and its highly probable you will want to try it.

I'm still tweaking around with coco. Far from being an expert. Things I've learned so far is that 6.0 is better for veg and 5.8 for when your in full flower. I always flush my coco before using, so it's pretty much empty, then I thoroughly flush again with about .6 ec of nutes (not counting whatever's in my tap). You have to start using nutrients right away or else your seedlings will die (I mean, don't try and grow a seedling with no nutrition at all). I water each day, with runoff, about .6 ec and work up from there. 'Course, I'm trying to use it hydroponically, not sure how you're trying to use it.

@roadsidevendor1 you can do several runs with it. ive heard people of doing 5-6 runs with the same coco and all they do is clean out the root ball and maybe add a small amount of fress coco to keep things leveled. its really all about flushing it well after each run so there isnt any salt buildup

Ive done several runs with the same stuff. If I'm unsure about it, I just run hot water through it. It takes a while to decompose. It doesn't compress in the pot. It stays at the same level in the pot from beginning to end.

thats what i was wondering
if it rots and packs down.
my MG soil compacted badly
on the last grow. the root
never went past halfway down
and i put extra perlite in.
