Hi ,

I'm thinking of doing a coco hempy bucket grow, however the water in my area is very hard, not so much from a ph point of view(it's around 7.25) but the calcium content is through the roof. According to the drinking water quality report the calcium is 149 mg/l and the magnesium is 6.51 mg/l. I've read that the ideal calcium/mag ratio is 1 in 4, mines coming out at nearly 1 in 23. I'm thinking at some point I'm going to need to add epsom salts but at what ratio I have no idea. The conductivity is 635 uS/cm not sure how that translates into ec. Vitalink and ionic do coco nutes for hard water and people in hard water areas seem to do well using those nutes. Does any kind soul have any ideas how to combat my ridiculous levels of calcium? Thanks in advance.

I can’t answer your question properly as I’ve no experience with “coco hempy buckets”, I grow in soil. If you feel your tap water is going to be a problem, you could get an RO filter for your system. Then you’d be pretty certain there’s almost nothing in the water. Or buy cheap spring water from the supermarket which might serve you better.
