Grow Mediums Coco, Hard water, Cal/Mag?

Thanks for the replies!!!!!

On the MegaCrop calculator it shows 277 ppm per gal for seedlings/small plants. If I understand the instructions right I add the 277 ppm per gal to my starting water ppm to get final PPM.

So that gets me 277 + 178 = 455. I was a bit over this and I had to add GH ph down to get it to 6.4. I ended up at 551 ppm and 1.1 EC. I went with these numbers as I have seen very similar used with MegaCrop amd Autopots by several members here.

I used that to pre soak the coco with about a quart in each 3.9 gal Autopot let sit 24 hours then planted. When I planted the seedlings I used about a cup or so to water in.

I always suggest starting off at half the recommended amount if you aren't familiar with/haven't run the nutrient line before. The manufacturer recommended feeding levels are almost always very high.

It's easy to get in the mindset that pushing higher EC will create bigger/better plants but usually it just causes issues. I've found that less is better.

I ended up switching from MC 1 part to Jack's 3-2-1 because of the massive amounts of nitrogen the MC was giving out. My last Jack's grow that finished I never went above 1.2 EC seed to harvest. Just my two cents. Let us know how it works out for you!

Heres a conversion chart for ec from ppm also a seedling in coco i never go over 0.6 ec if I went with 1.3 they would fry that's just my opinion also @TexasGrows i grow in autopots myself with canna coco same as @twentyeight.threefive

No autopots here, Vivosun cloth pots. But I use 100% Canna Coco Professional. Love that stuff.

Thanks for the replies!!!!!

I have processed the info and I decided to lower my EC before giving any further nutrients.

I diluted down to 0.6 and will hold there at least until I put them on the reservoir.

I intended to start 3 seeds separately, but I got mixed up and planted two in one pot and one in another. The two together are doing well. The single one is a bit behind.

Again thanks for the replies everyone, thanks for helping get me started on my first try with coco!!!!!!

In my DWC, I never used calmag. My well water is 230ppm and mostly calcium, some magnesium and iron. I cut it with RO water to about 90ppm. Then I just read the plants and adjust my ratio If needed.

I’m just starting my first coco grow, but I plan to do the same.
