Grow Room Clone Tree Experiment

Hey brother

What a neat experiment/trial you are doing
Nice to see it picking up pace as the donor plants are getting there.
You can buy grafting tape specially made for this purpose. Also very curious what's going to happen with your current graft as there is a foren body inside it now...It can go both ways so I've made myself some :pop: rolling a joint and enjoying the show brother :toke:

I have as much metal in me as Evel Knievel and I'm fine! :muahaha: Worst case it develops an excess of iron (pronounced like Bugs Bunny does). But seriously, when I put the scion down on the pin I screwed up and it poked out the side. So in a month I can pull it out with a pair of needle nose pliers. I meant to do that!

I don't know how good grafting tape is and I'm sure I'll try it at some point. But this is my favorite tape so thought I'd give it a go...

@Rasterman Morning to you, your project it’s really progressing now. Congratulations on getting this far as we all get so distracted form life nowadays.
A great idea to include the pin I wouldn’t of thought of this little trick. Well you will know soon if she grafts and I’m wishing you luck and blessings on this one.
I’m quickly discovering I’m very addicted to Afghan genetics :smoking:

Thanks @throwstuffatme. I love growing Afghans. I wish you could could get great sativa effects from Afghan plants and the world would be perfect!

The first attempt resulted in all vegetation wilting away. I made a second try, and wasn't able to match the size so in desperation I cut the scion down the side at an angle and grafted it onto the side of a branch that was too large. That attempt seems like it failed.

Late yesterday afternoon I put it under my Mars Hydro at the lowest light setting.

:vibe:Although it's too early to be more than cautiously optimistic, I checked this morning and the first scion is starting to come back. It's still mostly dead but I see a few very tiny leaves perked back up. By this afternoon I should know whether it's going to survive or not.

So I think the rootstock needs to be in a bigger pot with larger diameter branches and the minimum diameter for grafting is 3/16". In the future that will be my personal rule.

Such a difficult project. I do hope that one perks back up for you. At least then you know your method can work. Would rooting gel help with the connection at all? I didn't see if you used any type of product at the graft.

Yes it's my understanding that rooting gel would work, and soaking it in a nutrient solution is recommended. I didn't use anything this time except soak it in water for awhile.
