Chinese Sativa? ( Yunnan - borders Laos and Myanmar)

How long did they flower? which corner of vietnam? north or south? What was the taste like when grown and cured properly?

The Sativa I had in Yunnan grew above 2000m. Correct me if i am wrong: I am assuming that at this altitude flowering time should not be that long and maybe have a flowering time acceptable for european summers.

Will use this thread as an insignificant "Test"-Grow with one plant outdoors and see how it goes.

They were bagseeds from a trip to Ho Chi Minh city very dark green almost black with a spicy peppery taste. they took anywhere from 16-24 weeks to finish, after harvest they would re-veg for a week or 2 then back to 12/12 again.

Hope that is not the case with this one!!

She is the fastest grower out of all plants that were germed the same time and seems to thrive even in low light conditions.

Although same as with all the plants that I started this weeks she shows signs of light deficiency and grows tall and thin. It was rainy and clouded the whole week...

Just found a Yunnan Variety from ACE Seeds:
http://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/China_Yunnan/ACE_Seeds/

Theirs is more Indica dominant. I am really excited to see if my little Lady(hopefully she is female) is different from theirs. I hope that she is more one the Sativa side of the spectrum.

If the plant turns out to be a male i will collect some pollen and put him in the woods with some Mexican Sativa F2s from Sensi Seeds to play with.:toke:

Found an article from Robert C. Clarke: "Confusion over Cannabis in Yunnan"
http://www.druglibrary.org/olsen/hemp/iha/jiha6211.html

in which he states:

"In July through August of 1999, and again in February through April of 2000, I traveled to several regions of Yunnan Province to survey the occurrence of wild, agricultural and feral Cannabis populations and speak to minority groups about their traditional usage of hemp. "

"Both High Times (1994) and Cannabis Culture (1999), recreational Cannabis magazines, spread the image of Dali as an attractive tourist destination for Cannabis smokers. "

" Yunnan Cannabis contains very little psychoactive THC (less than 2% dry weight). The perceived "high" of feral Yunnan hemp is induced more by wishful anticipation, combined with an exotic Chinese set and setting, than by its actual potency."

"It is truly a pity that misled Western travelers couldn't have enjoyed writing about one of their more characteristically Chinese experiences, rather than misinterpreting both Cannabis botany and Chinese culture."

The effect of the weed I got there this year was a very pleasant High very clear and functional and positive mind altering effects were there. Maybe the local plants have been hybridized with commercial varieties from Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar or Thailand by now or Mr Clarke had just bad luck with his test samples in the year 2000.

This just got a whole lot more interesting.

Just came back from a little trip through China and in the southwest I scored some really nice clear head-high herb. I could smoke it all day long and rest happy and functional and buzzed. Taste was not anything special as it wasnt properly cured. It was seeded and grew at about 2000m altitude.

Here is a little article about the region:

http://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/1454.html

though much has changed and they had a real crackdown on cannabis trade in this region. Resulting in the death many nice people who sold the wild weed they chopped in the mountains just to get by ( lots of grannys). over 30g brings the death sentence in China.

Sadly I don´t have any Pictures as my friends camera was stolen in a bus robbery.

I brought back a good 150 seeds to play with though!

Does anyone have experience with Sativas from this Area?
Maybe some autoflowering traits that could be fortified?

If you have any questions about region or plan to go there yourself ask away.

Cheers

you know not to long ago stitch was looking for some pure sativas

:pop:years ago in my travels found a Korean sativa that i took particular interest in because it was roughly the same long that i live

Hey Sativalover,
I dont understand. Did she have the same height as you or the same height as your age? What was she like? How was the effect?

@goauto6 I do not know if it is a pure Sativa. Actually I know very little about this one I hope she turns out to be a good smoke and does have a workable flowering time but time will tell. If She turns out to be great I would happily spread some seeds around.

Here is a little update. She suffers the most out of all my plants under the low light conditions over the last weeks(very tall and thin for her age) but is the most developed as well (true leaves before the rest).

He means longitude. His light period and climate would be similar to where he picked the seed up at.

Being tall and thin as a seedling sometimes only is an indication that the plant naturally has a tall growth habit, not that it is suffering at all.
