Greetings Brethren!

First of all thanks to all of you kind people for the great vibe in this forum, its truly unique on-line and speaks well for the sacred plants spiritual healing :):peace:

Im torn between a CFL system based around 2x 130W CFL reflector units with enough supplementaries to make about 500W CFL or a 400W ballast system with 1 Philips Son-t bulb with a flowering CFL added week 3.

The grow space is 2x3 foot and hight can be anywhere between 3 - 6 foot tall. Due to the cold winter here, heating is no issue and in summer ill have proper heat extraction. Ill be running 3-4 auto plants at a time ideally in coco, and concentrating on Kush and Haze genetic lines.

Im leaning toward the 400W ballast due to lumens output and more reliable quality int he finished product, though the prospect of system failure is a big concern for me.

Im aiming to be using LED with DWC within 10 months, as im fascinated with the new techniques developed really int he last 10 years!!!!

So I need opinions - seems to me that the HID will give better growth and more potency with a red bulb for flowering while the CFL might be more reliable and have less replacment cost.

Here is the Ballast im thinking of -
400w sunmaster ballast

600w ballast im considering also

with

wing reflector AND

HPS-Son-T-Agro-Globe

In 400W for economical electricity costs or 600W for greater lumen if its worth it.

Opinions on bulb, ballast, CFL or lighting needs for my setup very welcome - so are recipes, anecdotes and pirate treasure.

CFL'S are cheaper and give off less heat.If you have a way to keep the heat down i would go with the 600 hps.

I vote HID. If you're not tight on budget, go for CMH lamps.

my :2cents: go cfl until you buy a led panel and then run both, when you do.:D: forget the streetlight technology from the 19th century.:peace:

Thanks or the replys guys, rep is rolling your way :)

So now im left thinking - would a 250w be worth running? Im looking at running cost (elec. is 26c kWh here !!!) versus lumen output. Blue is someone I know who swapped, but her set-up is smaller then mine.

No, on balance I think new tech for a new age - its my first grow and ive decided to run 2x 130 growlush (one flowering model from the start) and 4 extra smaller bulbs. I may add another 130w because id like to run 3-4 plants rather then 2-3 plants at a atime.

Sounds good? This is my first grow indoors, and im really looking forward to it :)

peace.
