Lighting Cfl for tent

I use 6x55w cfl twist (Actual) 330w total in a 3'x3' and get great results. Love cfls

Bulbs run around 18.00us

see my mate is on a serious budget

A) with cost of electric

b)cost of light

So i was thinking something like this for him.

I would definitely go with T5 HO, before I used CFL. But as I said earlier, it is just my opinion. Hell my first indoor grow ever, was a photo strain, using 2 flourescent shop lights. they were 4' two tube T12, and they finished up a nice NLXSK, with dense buds. But I had them teepeed around the sides of the plant. I had to turn the plant 1/4 turn every day, so it would grow evenly. But that said, I still believe that the HPS, is more efficient, in the long run, than cfls, especially for flowering. I currently use T5HO for veg, and HPS for flowering, with great results. I upgraded from the earlier setup, by purchasing my first harvest, from myself, at the market price, and that money went for upgrading my grow. I still purchase weed from myself, but use the proceeds, for replacing bulbs, and filters, with the extra used for going to music festivals.
Regardless of the way you do it, Green Mojo sent your way.

i was under the same impression that a 300w cfl actually used around 55w so i coud use 2 or 3 and still be under the electric usage of a 250w hps

usually on forums i always see people saying to tell actual watts not the equivalent when asking about setup. equivalent wattage is just not accurate or useful growise. just equivalent to an incandescent i assume? and im sure its rounded up to something that sounds appealing seems more like marketing than measurable amounts.

better to go by lumen and par as they span all lighting types and give you an idea of brightness to the human eye (lumens) and to plants (par).

and again not being hostile just to get across that wattage is nothing to do with brightness. you could build something that uses a hell of a lot of power to run a tiny bulb it wouldnt mean it is powerful.

wattage is just the power drawn to be used in the making of the light. the amount of light that actually comes out is the important thing and less efficient types of bulb will produce less light.
so hps and cfl of equal wattage will create different amounts of light. the cfl will produce less light and more heat while the hps is using more of the power to actually make light..

just to lighten things up a bit

i second t5ho's i love my single fixture ones and theyre just basic crappy ones. t5 is super efficient great for vegging.
