My mate has a grow tent 1m square how many cfl do I need?

Would one 300w be enough?

I like big flouro
Id go t5 or t8 if your broke.
But they have to be changed every few yrs.

Magnetic induction from china is the way to go with big flouros IMHO

I been eying this one
for 300 w flouro i would check out lvd, cheep induciton flouro.
Lasts 10 yrs
200$ free shipping.
Most induction Companys have circle bulbs that would be great for a square tent,

Riant induction lighting is who i use, better Ballast , honnor the warretny, better spectra, lasts 20 yrs.
But theyll be slightly more (50?) an you have to contact for a quote.

You are much better off with several of 26W & 42W and reach 300W if you want . You will get the most efficient ratio of /watt, + better coverage.
Respect spectum (6500K for grow and 2700K for flow)
The height of lighting is critical with CFL.
Maybe you could consider a 250W HPS, you would get much better results
or even 400W with the right exhaust / cooling and stuff
Good luck!
Peace

I want to reach the 250w of a hps but I don't want the electric cost of the hps if u see what I mean

hps is more efficient than cfl meaning its cooler/wastes less power/cheaper. also the cfl have a ballast on each bulb which is where the heat comes from while a hps ballast can be kept outside the tent. its a common misconception that they are hotter because they usually come in larger wattage's so by comparison to something people upgrade from they will be hot, but cooler than a cfl at the same rating which is what really matters. get a cooltube and a hps and youll be able to keep down the heat.

the wattage used is your power use, lumens=brightness and the k rating is color, look through some hps and compare to similar wattage cfl.

hps also have better range/penetration so you will get more available light over the whole plant not just at the top. cfl is bad for that and i think thats why so many trim to patch up the problem.

big watt Flouro will compete with HiD in Sog/Scrog grows.

my 400w riant light will definatly out grow the 400w hid i used to use,
it will pay for its self in in electricity costs.

heres a pic or 2 from my lil cab.

Hey Bgrt I have to disagree with this I have used Hps and MH and the bulb themselves will burn the shit out of you if you touch them and with a CFL you can touch them for a few seconds without getting burnt and as far as CFL's just penetrating the top with CFL you can hang them all around the plant and get all the penetration you need and still will not use the electricity you would with the HPS.
I do agree that the ballast makes a lot of the heat but the bulb makes a lot as well. you could use a cooltube but not everyone has the $ to buy these and with the purchase of a HPS setup with a cooltube you could buy a lot of CFL's and put out a lot more light. Just my :2cents:

Hey Scarhole I have checked out your grow with that induction light and even looked at them online but man they are expensive I would love to have one but maybe when the price comes way down but I do love them they are badass.

@ SCARHOLE, would you say the Radiant lights 400w for instance is only good fo rshort plants, like the ones you grow in your cab.
Or would it work with +60cm auto strains in 10 to 15 l pots?
Cheers
