Hey all, am just going through reasons why all my grows so far have been so horrendous. I think watering is one of my main problems. However, on the last grow (my first CFL) I was putting the 25w CFls literally 1cm away from the leaves, as I heard closer was better. However, can that actually be stunting my girls, especially early on? Right now got a seedling at 5 days which is still on her first leaves after the cotys, got 2x25w CFLs literally 1cm away from her leaves - maybe its too much and I should move them to 1-2 inches away?

Anyway, thanks for clearing this up.

Cheers!

Question one....do you ph the water before watering?

i have mine almost a feet away like 10 inches and adjust it every time as need it

Yes, you can get CFLs too close. I've had light bleached tips before :(

But with the CFLs you have, then as long as they don't touch the plant & have a good airflow around them then it'll be fine :)

Cheers guys. Might move them so they're a couple of inches away.

@AutoWonders no I don't, I bubble for 24 hours though, and then bubble the nutrient mixture together again for a while, which I've heard kind of stabilizes the pH. I know it's not ideal, but for the hassle it is (all my stuff is cramped into a tiny bedroom, making a nutrient feed is stressful enough) versus the yield reduction, I'm not too fussed. Again, not ideal, but I'm looking for a relatively low-maintenance grow, with enough bud at the end for personal use, I'm not hugely intent on maximizing every single budsite!
