New Grower Buying 1st setup, need help in finalziing the list

Hi Steelwool - Welcome to AFN :)

I see the guys are getting you all setup and having an incredibly similar sized setup, i thought it may be usefull to add some input.
I've used CFL, HPS and LED in my 60cm x 60cm cab, the HPS gave me the most trouble (Although i didn't have a cool tube setup), and i found LEDs to be the easiest way of getting the best yeilds from my cab.

you can get a sylvania Grolux extended blue spectrum flowering bulb if you're set on HPS - they're about £20 each and lasted me a couple of grows (although some people use them for ages longer)

If you don't live in a cold place, i would consider LED as a good option.

Space wise, I like to have a 10 litre and 6 litre pot in my space. I like 2 just incase one turns out bad. (i doesnt happen often) ^_^ Then there's just room for a movemant fan and a small tube heater.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned a Temp and Humidity gauage. It's quite important to keep lights on temps to around 75-85f

Just throwing my 2 cents in :)
all the best

I was actually told that for the PH ıssue, " that with soil you just add nutrients to water and pour it on, soil does the rest :) If you have a similar set up to me all you need to do is follow my journal and not pH anything."

if this is so, do I still need a PH meter? and how do you understand if the PH meter is actually showing the right figures :)

Maybe there is a magic soil out there that has a stable and correct pH but I have not run into it. Most soils that are sold are peat based which can have a low pH so they add limestone to it to get pH up to acceptable levels. Time, your water chemistry and nutes will impact the pH.

There are organic growers here that do not pH check but that is because they have developed their soil and methods to maintain correct levels. Try it if you like but plant problems caused by incorrect pH are probably the biggest issue we see new growers struggle with

With pH meters you calibrate them with a standard test solution, you often get some with the meter or you can purchase separately.

Ok i see your point, the brand that you guys mentioned is not available but i found a couple which hqve some good ratings on amazon. By the way, regarding the intake and extraction fan, do you guys have them in your tent or outside of it.

I was hoping to put both in the tent, do you guys think its feasable with a dr60 tent?

Damn so many options its hard to decide without having any experience in growing

I've done several grows. I had a couple grows where I got a little nuts with the nutes, and I used PH strips. It's funny, you used to be able to find PH strips anywhere. Call around, some hardware store or plant place (regular plants, not plant) should have some. I got mine at Whole Foods, of all places.
They don't have the pinpoint accuracy of digital, but at less than 1/10th the price...

But mostly I don't bother. You will learn when the plant isn't happy, google up some pics of plants in distress, and then do whatever simple thing you need to do.

This is what I've used for my grows. Its cheap and it works.

This is the cheapo temp/humidity thing I use

This is a fantastic pot for beginners. There is a water reservoir in the base, and a nute hungry plant can have some fun.

On this grow I am using an Air Pot. It grows faster than my other pot, but it's not as neat.
You can find a lot of people here that love them, and if you plan on getting one, you need to ask what size is best for your space. But I may go back to my old pot next time. It's just a bit messy, and I'm just a bit lazy.
