Hey guys,

I am growing for a year now and i will sell my current Kind Led K3 L600 to buy my own Cob build.
I have a 90x120 cm tent (3x4) and i want to run 6 COB ( CREE CXB3590 ) with a Meanwell HLG-240H-C1050B.

I only run autoflowers and i would like to run 3 "different areas" in my tent. Veg,Bloom and late Bloom. Yes i have 3 diffrent rails for 2 Cobs each.

My first plan:
2 x 6500k 70 CRI for Veg
2 x 3500k 80 CRI for Bloom
2 x 2700k 80 CRI for late-Bloom

After a bit research i found that the 5000k 70 CRI for Veg and the 3000k 80/90 CRI for late-Bloom would be a very good alternative because they have the better "overall spectrum" and the COB Light mixes the spectrums in my line-up ? What do you think ?

I know there are pros and cons on both sides but i am a big noob and new to COB so maybe you have some advice for me :d5:. I would be more than happy !:smoking:

@BigSm0 i dont know if i am allowed to tag you but i am a big fan

I would go with 5000K 70/80 CRI for veg.
And 3000/2700K 90 CRI for bloom. Or higher CRI (95/97) if you can find it.

Just a hint, 10-12% blue is all you need for vegging. So basically 3000K 80 CRI will do the job! I think 3500K 80 CRI has 15-17% blue, so more than enough.

Thank you very much  I cant find higher CRI index in my shop but they told me higher CRI has significantly less lumens/watt than the lower CRI version. I think 227 Watts at the wall are not much for 3x4 and i want to use them as efficient as possible :headbang: Do you agree ?

I think i will go with 5000K 70 CRI (only CRI i find) for veg , and maybe 1x 3000k 90 CRI and 1x3000k 80 CRI for late bloom.

LPW is nothing to choose by. Higher CRI seems to finish faster a couple of days, yield the same, despite lower LPW.

I have 5000K and 3500K and I am pretty happy with them. I also vegged with 3500, more than enough blue. But next time I will keep it simple and go with 3000K/3500K 80/90 CRI all the way from veg to flower. Of course, when they burn out... in 10 years lol.

Good upgrade. 5k and 3k cobs should do well. 227 watts for a 3x4 is more than enough. It’s actually about double what I have going right now in my 40sf space and I’m on track for one of my best harvests. Are you going to swap the lights out as the plants progress? I do think spectrum and cri is far less important as people think. Especially where your comparing similar lights.

:worship: Thank you very much. I saw pictures on instagram and your growspace looks top notch :headbang: I want to start 2 plants every ~25 days and switch them from left(5000K) to middle(3500K) to right(3000K) as the plants progress. I thought this would be helpful :biggrin:

Sounds like a great plan. They should get overlapping light as well? Also help them shift to the changing spectrum.

Hey again, my Package arrived and i wired everything up, but the COBs dont work :wall: I dont know why and i hope someone could help me maybe ? :xmas:

I have 6 Cree cxb3590 (2x5000K,2x3500K,2x3000K) and they are all 36V Versions. Driver is a Meanwell HLG-240H-C1050B undimmed.

Driver connected to the plug with a few wagos .

I triple checked that i always connect + to - and - to + in a series connection. I also checked that the COBs fitting in their holder and are connected to it.

I know they are not wired up but i wanted to give some pic of my situation
