Photoperiod Bud's Shed - First Test Grow

IMG_0818.JPG
I've got this done so far went away for 3 weeks now weather is really slowing me down..

yeah from what i gather he had a generator shut down killing his power and the cold temps ruined everything i saw some pics and wanted to cry what a shame it was going to be epic for sure.. i havnt seen anything from him in a while hope hes doing alright..

Thank goodness for that ... I thought he'd had a fire or something! Seriously, my concern was for him, not the plants .. they can be replaced.
A bummer for sure, but then there's a lesson in there ... buy two generators!

i gotta say man that shed is impressive.. i may need some pointers from u i am going to build something similar inside my "growrage" maybe a 4x6 sealed room inside that should be lots ive got 12' to the trusses so lots of room that way.. id like to set it up with full automated ventilation and a/c for the summertime also..
but first i need to finish the building...
Wow dude, that's gonna be some growshed..! I'm envious already, and you haven't even got the roof on yet! :toke:
Yeah, if I had some more cash, I'd automate my venting too .. it's been a bloody nightmare running up and down the garden taking temp readings and tweaking. Has to be done tho'.
Good luck, I'll be watching your build with interest, dreaming of getting my drill out again..!!

Update time.
It's been over a week since I discovered my 'timer' failure and they've been back on 12/12.
Look's like we're on-track again now tho' ..

On Monday, I tied them down and supercropped them .. or attempted to! The stems are really snappy, I've had a couple come off clean in my hand (shit) and I've had to fix a few more .. think I'll just have to leave them alone now ..

This is how they looked today ..

Meanwhile, back in the vegging chamber, all the 'mainliners' got spread and tied down ready for phase 3 ..

That was a couple of days ago .. they're bushing up again rapidly, this was today ..

I guess-timate another 6 weeks, I've lost about 10 days with the timer disaster, so that's how long I've got to keep these vegging for. My plan is to grow them out now for about a week, then give them another topping, phase 3 .. go up to 8 x growth-nodes. A week's recovery, another week's growth and then the final topping, phase 4 .. 16 x growth-nodes. Another week's recovery, a week's growth and that takes me to 5 weeks.

To help slow them down a bit, I'm trying to keep the temps down at around 20C and when they get to the last few weeks, I'll drop the lights to 18/6, then 16/8, 14/10 .. then they'll get re-potted, given 36 hours of darkness to properly trigger the flowering phase and then nuked under the LEDs.

Happy Bud

A quick 'mainline' update ...

'Stumpy' was first to go ..

Took everything off after the second node on each spur ...

Then cleaned up the middle, leaving the small fan leaves on for recovery power ...

That's Phase 3 of the technique done and dusted.
Looks a bit of a mess at the moment, but that'll change. The one on the bottom right didn't quite go to plan .. I slipped with the knife and ended up having to take all foliage off after the first nodes ..
Phase 3 complete.jpg

So, she's an 'inverted' mainliner now .. guess we'll just have to see what happens to her next.
Some uneven growth goin' on too ...
Odd-one-out.jpg

That's all for now .. it's a waiting game in the flower-room.
All or nothing ... 10 hours a day, down to 10 minutes a day, back to 10 hours a day very soon! Snip snip. :vibe:

No, the problem isn't autos usually, its the fact that noobs all want to run out and buy 47 varieties of Super Nutes and feed their plants to death......they kill them with love! Nobody wants to start simple. Well I've NEVER had a problem with an auto in a pot of organic soil! Learn to grow before messing with all that fancy crap! Most strains of autos can take a fair amount of abuse, I've proved it. You CAN transplant them. You can top them ( most but not all strains ), you can super crop them and you can grow some big plants. You can't become a race car driver till you learn to drive! Growing good canna requires the same.

That said, I love photo period plants also. They can be easy to grow, or they can be shrews......lol! Try cloning a Ducksfoot if you want to thin your hair a bit.....

I would agree with you on that point. I took advice from a friend as he said 'grow auto's, perfect for a beginner'. Now I'm starting to know what I'm getting into with auto's they are so not for a beginner. With a bit of luck and strictly following the advice on here I got to my first harvest but I know I could have done loads better. They are sensitive lady's when they want to be.
