My hay like harvest from earlier this year
Mephisto states Sour Stomper takes 60 to 65 days from sprout. My 0lants is on day 49 but already has milky trichomes. Usually I hear about plants taking longer than the breeders published timeline. Do they ever finish faster? I just don't want to wait to long to chop?

Personally I've NEVER had a plant run under time. Where are you checking? The sugar leaves will be ahead of the nug. Closest I had was a sour crack that went 5 days over. Most are closer to 10 to 14 days long.

@Arthur - I am checking the very top of the highest bud on the plant. Maybe the pic is just out of focus and causing them to look cloudy. I will see if I can get a better pic. This is what I am seeing

There are many factors at play.. Pot size, light schedule, grow style ect, can all effect finish times. The breeder info is a guideline, not an exact. You could finish before, or after the breeders said finish time. Sour Stomper has sour crack as a parent. Sour crack finishes in 55days or so.. You could have a sour crack dominate pheno. Also when checking trichomes, most people go by a percentage.. For example, someone might say "my trichcomes are 80% milky".. That means that 80% of the plant has milky trichomes. Have you checked the entire plant? What percent would you say has milky trichomes?.. But the rule if thumb is that when you think its ready to chop, give it another week. Depending on the percentage of milky trichs, another week or so will put you in the breeders time frame window.

@Prophetiko I see what you're saying. I was only checking the top two buds. I will look all over.

One the most common ratios at harvest is 80% milky and 20% amber. You dont want clear trichomes. If you have a good amount of clear trichomes, it usually means that the flowers still needs more time.

The top buds will mature much faster than the buds below them. The top buds get the best light so they tend to finish faster than the middle and lower buds. Some people do two harvests because of this. They chop the top half of the plant that is ready to go, and leave the bottom half to mature for another 7-10 days then harvest the bottom half.

@Prophetiko thank you for that info, I always wondered if chopping the top half off would be okay.
