For those who don't get the joke, here's a link to the original:

I'll be using my usual 3' by 3' Gorilla Grow Tent, Hydroponics Hut PG-260 led panel, Sun Systems 150 watt HPS lamp and 2.2 liter (yellow base) Air-Pots. Big change for this grow: I'll be trying Kind Soil, with straight Fox Farms Happy Frog as my 'top soil'. Same tap water; aerated and 'aged'. The only other addition is the plant dollies, added to get the pots off of the floor rather than for any mobility purpose. I figure the tent is warm enough, but this place is on a plain cement foundation, I'm sure, and if root temps are an issue, these should help.

First reaction to this stuff: I gotta be honest, I don't know if I can get past this smell. Thankfully, it seems to be nothing to the carbon scrubber, but I guarantee I'll be using the window feature of the tent a lot this grow. We'll see how it goes. It's either get used to that smell or go back to mixing nutes, I guess.

The smell will go away after a few days ! it is surprising the first time you smell it
Damn, I can't wait! I loaded up the pots in the bathroom; I figured with the cat box and me, it'd be the best place. But even the cats and I aren't that bad! Right now it smells like dueling fish and Ona Block, with the window open in 35 degree (F, not C!!) weather. Can't smell anything out of the tent exhaust, though.

What smell is bugging you? Is it the soil? I like those plant dollies I need to look into those. Just finished a DP blanket l blackberry kush, can't weight to smoke it.
Yeah, the soil reeks. I knew it would; I mean, it's decaying organic matter and such-it's not going to smell pretty. I think what got me was that it didn't really smell that bad at first, and then just kept building until I finished. Still, only have to do it once per grow, right? I swear, next time I might just risk doing it outside in the parking lot in the middle of the night. No one's up past ten PM in this town anyway...

Blackberry Kush has been on my want-to-grow list pretty much since my first grow; it'll be nice to finally see it. I figured with Kind Soil promising such great smells and such, these strains would put it to the test.

Ouch. That would suck. I have to admit, I'd have a hard time moving back to a warmer climate (used to live in the Bay Area in California) with the bugs. I haven't had to buy anything for fleas for the cats since I moved here. The only roaches I see are in ashtrays. It's kind of nice. On the other hand, the five months of winter suck...

I just gave the pots a sprinkle of water, and sure enough, the smell is almost gone. It just smells a bit "earthier" than normal at this point.
The bathroom, on the other hand...

@BR549 The smell will become practicly unnoticable. How did you prep your ;pots? KS on the bottom and HF over the top? I am having great success with my first KS grow. I modified the pot prep some, but seems to be working great. The grow is in my signature if you are interested. I'm subbing up. I have another 5 lbs of KS just waiting for my next grow. I incorportated the Blumat system of watering, and all I do is keep the res full of rain water! Good luck wth your grow.

Yeah, I figured I'd try to go "by the book" as much as possible as I've not proven myself to be the best improviser in the world. KS on bottom, HF on top. The smell's pretty much gone now. Next time, I'll just prep the pots in the tent and let the carbon scrubber deal with the issue. I've never heard of Bluemat; I'll have to hit google!
