Lighting BOSS/KING LED

Budget plays a very important factor, not everyone as the cash to buy high end. Ive seen some great grows with marshydros, think growers skill is also a major factor. No good having the best LED available if ya cant use it!

I sort of like the idea of gradual upgrades, sort of like the more I learn the more beneficial to then take it further with upgrades, different nutes, more challenging strains, etc still wouldnt have a clue on how to grow a 16 week sativa yet!

Yeah if that's some Chinese chips they're garbage and not more efficient than HID. You can build that 8 x cxb3070 on 2 x hlg185 36A I mentioned and get 65k lumens directed at the canopy for 400w. Comparable to a 90,000lmn 600w HPS(reflector loss, and Cree 3500k/4000k have a slightly better spectrum), should be right at $400 and you just need heatsink to mount em on.

An HPS setup will run you at least $200, and a $50+ bulb every 6 months, and 50% more electrical usage. 200w extra @ 18/6 is $13 more a month, so that Cree setup would pay for itself over HPS in under a year.

315cmh is pricey compared to diy cobs, but not a bad way to go. Comparable to 400-450w of hps.

So you think $3-400 of CXBs+drivers will be better than 2 of those boss/king leds?

Definitely, by far. Not same wattage though. The Boss will use more electricity and produce a blurple light.
If you're in US check the Tasty leds, maybe they restocked their lights.
If you're in EU contact me in private for DIY details.

Those 315 cmh's do look good, a friend of mine just got one of the gavitas apparently the same output as a 600w, the light is like daylight inside his tent, well impressive, oh he said 500w not 600. whoops!

I also think Grow Northern are releasing some new units in April, 3 different models so I have read.

On you tube Marshydro did a comparison test on a king/boss unit, think the data results they publish is not inline with the actual data after test, there were also a few other issues, think the double chips ended up being a con as well, might be worth seeing if ya can find it for a bit of info, they seem even cheaper on Ebay aswell.

41,000 lumens for 400w I'm not sure how much better CMH spectrum is but I'd take HPS watt for watt over that. I don't think the spectrum is 1.5x better. 600w hps gets you 90,000 lumens and would be the minimum I'd want to flower in a 1.2mx1.2m.
