Im thinking about replacing my 1200w vero29 panel for 2 smaller ones for my 120x120cm space. Did anyone try these boss/king lights?? They are dirt cheap, I know I get what I pay for but I cant afford any cree diy project right now..

I was thinking about 2 of these
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01871AG5M/ or should i perhaps go for 2 of the 800w model for best coverage?

Can't help much as I've never used these but curious as to what others have to say...price and coverage look good.

What lights do you have now(model, draw)?* Vero chips should be very good so why the need to replacing them?
I really doubt the "boss/whatever" are worth any money, they look so old tech it's embarassing.

*nevermind, I checked your signature thread and your lights are not Vero29 but a cheap chinese cob model. Looks quite nice though.
What's your budget for the upgrade?

What makes you say that? I had it assembled in china yeah, I was told it was bridgelux cobs with 110k lm. Youre making me want to disassemble it now and make sure....

Few hundred bucks tops, the panel i have works well yeah but its really expensive to run.

Vero13, not 29. My bad..
Like I said it doesnt have to be top bin leds, ive seen some crazy grows with old mars 300 and these boss/king panels are newer afaik. HID isnt out of the question either.

Well the obvious reason for my words are pictures, I saw yours and the cobs in your fixture are rectangular while the Vero array is round shaped.

Ebay chinese cobs

I put together some cob grow modules using Cree CXB(best performance cobs) and I can assure you the Veros don't put out such lumens(110k lm) even in your light setup.
By the Vero data the model 13 is a 16W cob and puts out around 2k lumens per unit(130lm/W), the model 29 when runs at 80W puts out 10k lm(130lm/W).

I suspect the panel in question is a product of common chinese practice of lying on used parts and the real specs. Be sure if that was a 1200W panel it would heat your tent for good and probably burn the cobs inside very quickly.

Few hundred bucks you say? That's enough for 200W of DIY cobs which probably gives out more light than your current panel. Using both you could have enough light for a good growth.

Another option I'd suggest(you said hid is also ok) would be a 315W ceramic lamp like SunSystem LEC or Cycloptics GreenBeams.
They start at around 500usd.

Apologies for my language, I raged a bit.

Yeah @Atulip already lectured me in the crees. So you think $3-400 of CXBs+drivers will be better than 2 of those boss/king leds?

Goes back to the saying.... You pay for what you get... If the deal sounds too good, it probably is. There isn't a Chinese MFG that makes good high quality fixtures, they come from the states most of the time hence why they are expensive....

Love mine though....
