@Black Dog LED

1. I mostly order directly on the Dutch Passion site and the AutoMazar is a easy growing strain for beginners...on my first grow with AM's i had 4 plants more than 100 gr. as newbie
2. Yep, don't do it like themongol, after growing more then 20 years photos...just buying auto seeds and doing them without any auto knowledge, BIG failure...be as wise as the newbies did here on AFN...do lots of research and ask many people here how to do, they will help...read lots of sticky threads here and your auto knowledge will rise...
3. read 1 and 2, LOL
4. Nope, i put the seedling directly into the final pot...i learned a lot from Adrian/ Dutch Passion, he told me most important is that autos don't like changes included transplanting...
5. Definitely...hard to learn, that autos need less than photos...i managed it by reading the plants and the leaves...
6. I do flush once 3×volume pot of tap water...
7. It's a little bit more than 2 sq ft.
8. Nope, i like the plants how they do

Hello Autoflower Growers,

We have received some interest from local customers about growing autoflower and would like to ask some questions of you autoflower experienced growers.

  • Where is the best place to purchase seeds, What strains have you personally had success with and would be good for an autoflower beginner?

  • Do you have any suggestions or tips for new autoflower growers that are experienced with flowering photoperiod sensitive Cannabis?

  • Any specific strains or things to try when growing autoflowers?

  • How do you handle pots? Do you start a seedling in a smaller pot and transplant up to larger pots?

  • Do you modify feeding schedules from standard Cannabis feeding schedules? When do you start feeding flower nutrients?

  • Do you flush, and if so for how long?

  • How do you plan on size requirements since you cannot control flowering cycle? Do you just plan on about 2 sq ft per plant?

  • Do you do anything to train or manage your canopy?

Thank you for everyone’s time and looking forward to suggestions and opinions!

Mephisto anyone of there strains are good to grow. That being said there is a lot of great seed co.s

I start feeding on day ten in pro mix H.P. at day ten I start with quarter strength and move up as the plant develops. Run at least 20/4 light schedule I run 24/0 I never turn my lights off.
I leaf tuck that helps to develop smaller bud I pull the occasional leaf off to help develop bud to if a lanky taller strain I tie them up. The stem to the stalk.
I start in the pot I end in it is the best for optimal size.
I start on day 10 at I mill a litre grow a/b and root builder aussie tonic. I feed every time if but I never go higher then 2 mills of feed I ad bud stimulator at around day 35 to 40 depending on the strain
I do not flush I just give them drinks of water every day for 8 to 10 days maybe a bit longer on some I see a lot of swelling and density develop during that stage but that is me.
This is strain dependent a 24 C indica from mephisto would require less but a HBSS hybrid you would want that much space.
Personaly I just let them grow they way they want constant forward motion to maximize there size in very little time I try to do as little as possible to the plant to achieve maximum amount but that is my growing style.

  • Where is the best place to purchase seeds, What strains have you personally had success with and would be good for an autoflower beginner?
  • The best place to purchase seeds is really dependent on where you live..alot of seed banks don't ship to the US. That being said.. any of the AFN recommended vendors, Mephisto, Sweet Seeds, Fastbuds, Dutch Passion.

I've personally had success with almost every auto I've grown. It's subjective though..all in what you call success.. I've grown 1 ounce plants and I've grown 14oz plants..

I will say for a beginner I'd try Fastbuds. I've had very good luck with every strain I've tried and I'm currently going through their whole catalog
  • Do you have any suggestions or tips for new autoflower growers that are experienced with flowering photoperiod sensitive Cannabis?

  • The best tip I have for the experienced photo grower is... Don't think about growing photos, if you're growing autos.. they're a different animal. Same general grow practices apply.. clean grow room, temps and humidity need to be dialed in but the biggest thing is...pay attention to your plants. Alot of people go by a set schedule, week 1, week 2... With autos that doesn't always work. In my opinion anyway
  • Any specific strains or things to try when growing autoflowers?
  • They only take 55-85 days a few may go long but with that kind of time frame.. try them all !! Variety is the spice of life
  • How do you handle pots? Do you start a seedling in a smaller pot and transplant up to larger pots?
  • I transplant most of my Autoflowers, I start in solo cups and when the leaves reach the outside of the cup I transplant..
People say don't do it... If you're careful it's not a problem
  • Do you modify feeding schedules from standard Cannabis feeding schedules? When do you start feeding flower nutrients?

  • Modifying feed schedules is a must for auto's in my opinion.. Some strains like it hot and some don't..that's where paying attention to your plants comes in..

I wait until the stretch has stopped before switching to bloom.. but then again it really depends on the strain. Most of the time once the preflowers starting bulking I'll add a ml or 2 of bloom just to get a headstart

  • Do you flush, and if so for how long?
  • I wouldn't say I flush..but near the end I do feed straight water.. but flush no.. maybe two or three waterings
  • How do you plan on size requirements since you cannot control flowering cycle? Do you just plan on about 2 sq ft per plant?
  • If you hadn't noticed my planning skills are non apparent. I've been trying to go perpetual for a while now and I can never get the timing right. I have 3 tents so timing and planning really don't bother me too much
  • Do you do anything to train or manage your canopy
  • Training, topping, fimming yes. Why not? It's all strain dependent or trial and error. Some love it some don't. Keep a journal and you'll know next time

All of these questions are great, my answers may not be exactly what you're looking for but I will garauntee if any interested grower out there signs on to AFN they'll be able find all the answers right here on site..
I don't believe there's another site with the amount of autoflower dedicated information out there..

Looks great as always bud... killing it. Im always envious of your tent space... lol.. much bigger than my wee littke 3x3 haha
That little 3x3 pumps out some fine specimens brother.. you might envy my tent space.. but I envy your plants

  • Where is the best place to purchase seeds, What strains have you personally had success with and would be good for an autoflower beginner? Anything Mephisto, very forgiving plants and quality to match..Mephisto genetics.com..I've also had a good experience with Dr.Krippling seeds Super Skunk Auto..She holds up to major stress and can yield very well..Potency wise, she is a heavy hitter, right up there with Mephisto's Skyrone Stomper Illuminauto [HASHTAG]#15[/HASHTAG] I grew..Some testers I had preferred the Super Skunk.

  • Do you have any suggestions or tips for new autoflower growers that are experienced with flowering photoperiod sensitive Cannabis? Approach autoflowers open-minded..Photoperiods give you time to correct any issues you have, where autoflowers time is crucial as your veg period isn't very long depending on strain..You can still correct any issues, but can quite possibly stunt these autoflowers resulting in lower yield and so on..As far as feeding autos, start off on the lighter side. Remember you're not growing photos, they can handle a stronger feeding depending on strain..It's easier to give a little more food then take some back. Read your plants and adjust accordingly.

  • Any specific strains or things to try when growing autoflowers? You can always go with a faster finishing strain and grow them the first run without training to get a handle on things and a feel for said strain's growth pattern and requirements.

  • How do you handle pots? Do you start a seedling in a smaller pot and transplant up to larger pots? I tier transplant with a plug, meaning I'll fill a larger container with growing medium and dig out the center filling it with a seedling mix. I then place a party cup or smaller container with the bottom cut off into that plug and fill with more seedling mix. This gives your plant time to establish a strong root system before taking on your final medium..(Organics)..No layering though, just that plug.
  • Do you modify feeding schedules from standard Cannabis feeding schedules? When do you start feeding flower nutrients? Everything is composted in my medium..Some use TaNg's easy auto schedule with bloom nutes from the beginning to end and have great results.
  • Do you flush, and if so for how long? I grow organically in Living soil so the most I do is cut off the cal/mag like 10-14 days before harvest and just plain water from there. If using synthetic fertilizers, some cleanse their medium for 14 days, meaning just water until harvest.
  • How do you plan on size requirements since you cannot control flowering cycle? Do you just plan on about 2 sq ft per plant? I do my research on the strain I plan on growing as well as following grow journals to see what I'm dealing with and the capabilities of that strain.
  • Do you do anything to train or manage your canopy? I actually Low Stress Train my plants to encourage multiple tops as well as lollipop anything underneath the canopy that doesn't make it to the top come flowering time. I aim for bushes with some super cropping here and there as well. You can let them grow Christmas tree style as well with great results, it all depends on your space and genetics

Just my experience

Thanks @Bunny.. I'm thinking this light rocks..this is the fullest this tent has ever been and the plants aren't needing any more light that's for sure.
wait the now.... thats all from one light?!
gonna have to go see how this happened. thats awesome!

Absolutely one light.. 6'6"x6'6"x6'6" hydrofarm cube tent packed full.. one light. Phytomax 1000 and yes it's bright..
thats insane mate! ive never seen anythin like it. what a piece of kit! just put one plant under it and go set a new world weight record lol. you could beat skellys outdoor plants with that thing.

This is my second run with it.. it took a little dialing in. I think I just about got it figured out now. Switching to 3gal pots really helped me out. Right now I have 19 plants in there and still packing.. not exactly sure how many I can do at once but it's alot
