I was wondering what people thought of this idea……

A 9litre pot filled with biobizz allmix around a 2 litre pot inside, remove the 3 litre pot and fill in the hole left with biobizz light mix. Making sure the seedling doesn’t get nute burn from the all mix in the first couple of weeks.

Do you think that would work in a sense of not having to add too much later on? Any info or ideas I’m glad to hear.:stir:

My answer depends on your goals. Why are you using a 9 L pot? That is too small to accomplish a water only grow? So that means you will be amending the pot in some manor during the grow regardless to the fertilizer content of the starting soil. So you could just use the Light Mix alone and start amending sooner. Just a thought.

The idea of using a "seed starter soil" is a valid technique in soils that are otherwise too hot for a seedling but you only need <0.5L of actual seed starting soil. Light mix is not a seed starting soil but I have seen peeps get away with it here. I use this:

I think I’m just going to up the pot size (as I was going to anyway) and I’ll take my chances with the light mix and amend when needed. :face:

Light Mix is better suited for autos than all mix....IMO
For years I've started every seed, auto and photo, in a solo cup of BB Light Mix, getting 99.9% germ.... then trans to a 1 gal airpot. Simple conservative feeding and it's done. Can't knock Light Mix...it's some good shit.
Bonzai grows are fun and ya get to burn the evidence.

@automan2 every thread I’ve read and person I’ve spoken to says the same tbh… last time I grew me and my buddies were robbing lights from lamp posts so it’s been a while lol all come a long way now, big time!
