Which media do you recommend?

A chiller will take care of any chance for root rot and an ph perfect nutes makes dwc super easy. I'm growing biggest plant of my life and I don't even check ph at all or change res water. Literally all you do is add water to res every few days and pray your space is big enough for the monsters coming lol.

If you don't want to spend 300 on a chiller I recommend coco/perlite hempy. Also extremely easy and doesn't need a lot of babysitting. Just make sure you pre charge your coco with calmag.
I have to buy a chiller but i cant find any here, i have to bring one in my next journey abroad...im in a third world country man, you cant even imagine how hard it is to get the things you mention....
Which percentage of mix do you recommend for coco/perlite? And can i load it with an nutes? Which ones do you recommend?and at what percentage?

Thank you all for your help, i really appreciate your effort :)

Coco or coco mix is probably going to be the best yielder, generally speaking. But there's one huge issue with coco: unless you can get one of the higher end name brand coco (and even then sometimes), there's going to be a mystery amount of salts build up in the media that must be rinsed out. There's a couple great threads on the process of washing out the salts. If you're just starting out, this might be a big headache, and it can lead to problems for the lifetime of the plant. If the coco says "washed and buffered" or something like that, then it generally doesn't need to be rinsed and rinsing could even wash out the buffers. So it's a tough call.

Not trying to steer ya away from coco, just want you to succeed and coco has some difficulties. :p DWC is probably the method of absolute highest yield potential, but it has some delicate difficulties too.
As i said rdwc can wait till i get the chiller... And actyally i can only have unprocessed cocoblocks from srilanka, could you please point me to the topic about washing these cocos?
Can DP keep it clean help me for this matter?

Thank you again

I personally like around 60%coco coir 30% allmix soil and 10% perlite or vermiculite I think it's a great little mic
The soil acts as buffer right?

Thanx for your time and help

Whats the use of 1and a half inch of unusable media at the top?

Thank you for your time and help :)
There are bugs that love to sit on the coco but hate the perlite or lava rocks. It keeps your media in check from unwanted insects. This may become a problem faster than you think given the right conditions.

To be honest It always surprised me to see everyone say Hydro is hard. As someone who has been growing for about two years now I couldn't disagree more. I think it's just different for each person. I never had good results with soil or coco. I've used coco/perlite more than anything else in my 2 years of growing and I ran into problems every single grow. Every single one! lol.

I tried my first dwc bucket a year ago and I ran into some root rot or something at the end of the grow. Even with those root problems I still beat my best yield record and it was bigger than every plant I'd grown before it. For that first dwc grow I used GH flora nutes and I had to check ph 2 times a day and it was annoying but it was easy.

I had total control over everything. No guessing what the hell is wrong with my soil or coco. With hydro it's like you get exactly what you put into it. I started my 2nd dwc grow 45 days ago and this time I'm using AN nutes and I bought a chiller to avoid root problems. It's amazing how simple and easy it is! now I don't check ph nor do I worry about root rot or water temps.

Buying a chiller and going rdwc was the best decision I've ever made since I've started this urban farmer adventure 2 years ago and even on my first try I did better than all my soil and coco grows.

Don't be afraid of hydro. You might just find it easier than anything else, I know I sure do.
I am more than sure that rdwc can imcrease the yield dramaticaly, but till i get my chiller and as if any problem occurs nothing to cure it can be found here in time, i prefer to wait for the chiller to start my rdwc.
So any other suggestions maybe?

Thank you for your time and effort :)

I go with one liter per week I plan on growing. With a 4-6 liter buffer you never know. But I know Royal Queen seeds has a few that I just drop in a 7 liter pot and they are ready in about eight weeks or less. So I would really recommend at least one liter per week with a 4-6 liter buffer. But that is only with autoflower when it is photos I would just go up 3x the starting. So if I repot it will have to be 3x the size.

My ultimates finish in around 90 days, so 13/14L+ 6L buffer.... I either have to use 15L smartpots, normal 20L plastic pots or pay like 300 pounds for shipping + the price of 50*22.5L airpots...hard choice...
