Does anybody know of a good source for high wattage 2700k cfl bulbs?

the best price I found so far was about $30 shipped for a 2700k 105w.

thanks cfl'ers!

You could just buy three 42 watters at walmart for around 7.50 a piece with 2700 lumen

thank you for the links and suggestions everyone:smokebuds:
CBudz, I'd like to get 4-6 maybe spend about $150usd all depends on price per quantity etc.

Sir, I was leaning that way too but it seems to me the 42w'ers don't penetrate well, but all I have to compare them too are my 150w cfls wich I got at a great price but they only had 5500k.

lumen efficiency is best @ 23 watt on cfl. going with a larger number of those would give you plenty of room for working on placement and lumen count.
check out 1000bulbs.com or see if you can work out a deal on a case at a local retailer
for top lighting a vanity fixture would help a lot.

Lumens don't add together, so using small bulbs isn't better, example.. two 2000 lumen bulbs does not add 4000 lumens, just increases area coverage and stays 2000 lumens

At least that's my understanding..

lumens are additive. to the point anyway, the source will never exceed the amount of lumens, but if you have a target area I.E. the plant, you can deliver additively given you cover multiple angles.

Do you have a lumen meter or a source for proof? I haven't been able to find anywhere that someone proves either side yet, I still stick with bigger is better

The short definition of lumens is the total amount of visible light emitted from a source(s). As it's the total, they are additive, but only where they overlap. I am a mountain biker and we sometimes ride at night, and I've seen guys test light rigs with a lux meter and the light output is definitely cumulative (nighttime bikers are just as fanatical about lights as growers). But that's only at a relatively small spot where the output of all lights converge. As far as growing is concerned, if you can get a lot of CFLs in a small space, then there will be a good sized area where the lights overlap. Four 2000 lumen bulbs won't give you 8000 lumens for the whole area that appears to the human eye to be lit up. But directly under the bulbs you'll get a nice concentration of light. That's one reason why you always want to keep CFLs as close to the plant as possible. It is correct that placing a 2K lumen bulb above and a 2K lumen bulb beside a plant should not technically be called 4K of lumens. It's just a larger area of 2K.
