Mephisto Genetics AvT Special & White Crack fast forward to Week 5

My home built cobs this time round work out at £68 each, that's with individual drivers (the most expensive bit of mine). My first DIY lot, still going strong after a year, were £85 each.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do with them @Spanglish my friend!

Looking forward to giving them a run but yeah COBs seem to be the way to go in terms of cost effectiveness in terms of consumption and components. What i got are only CLU048 1212 with Meanwell 1400 non dimmable drivers, am aware 1812s would be the better choice but at 60€/50GBP could not complain really and look forward to seeing what they can do.

nice new toys,if im not mistaken some non adjustable drivers have a lil rubber grommet somewhere on the case, under the grommet is a +/- adjuster screw.
keep er lit.
:pighug:

Yeah saw that but had a dig around and no go on this model by the looks of things. Was tempted to go for the 40w for that reason, here's hoping I don't regret it when I run out of headroom.

You'll be fine with those, the CLU048 1212s are what I have.

Great to hear mate, knew from reading round here they should be ok but was also aware they are not the latest tech. How hard do you drive them ? And what kind of distances you getting away with ?

Mine run at 47-48w because I only have 1050 drivers, but it's still plenty. Distance-wise probably 15 inches before I start to see problems I think. Do you have cal-mag to hand? Mine seem to need a bit more of that than I expected, but I'd heard it already about cobs so I was prepared.

Thanks for the info, these are Meanwell LPC-60-1400 drivers which i very loosely think output at 58w but god knows is all chinky lala to me. If that's the case looks about the same distance as the 5w Mars 400 to me, about 50cm-60cm (19"-24") in veg and then pushing to 40cm-45cm (15"-18") in bloom.

Yeah got Cal-Mag on hand, Green Planet Pro-Cal due to the low (1.1-0-0) NPK and the fact i will be using MegaCrop that seem to have plenty enough N for flower to start with.

How much Ca/Mg you add to MC? Or it's your first grow with MC?

Hi bro hope all is good. This grow was with BioBizz and have not used the Megacrop yet, going to be starting with it for the first time on the micro SOG that has only just got underway.

There is already a fair bit of info in the Greenleaf section when it comes to feed combos and amounts have linked to it below, @F.N. has got a thread in there in which he is supplementing with Green Planet Pro-Cal and mentions the amounts. If you got a specific brand in mind would most likely be best to put a post up in there and catch the eye of the other Megacrop users who may be using the specific brand you can get hold of and advise on what ratio to use it in.

The output power of the cob is purely down to the amp rating of the drivers mate.

So a 36v cob with a 1.4 amp driver is 36 x 1.4 = 50w approx. The power rating (w) is the maximum the driver can output.
