Grow Mediums Autopot system using smartpot instead of stock 3.9 pot

I wonder if the benefits of smart pots (air pruning, more oxygen to substrate) would be noticeable in that system compared to the hard plastic pots. And would an airdome work differently inside smart pots?

I got to check if my fabric pots will fit nicely in to the 1pot trays and try them out if its a fit.
You raise some great questions ///was hoping someone here on AFN would have experimented.

I don't understand why you guys want to change Autopot system. It's great like it is. No need to tweak anything.
Let me explain ...with a small tent, with limited space a 3x3 for example, the 3.9 pot system is viable /limited for 2 plants. Otherwise, growing 3 or 4 plants is overcrowding. I'm aware that you can put 2.2 pots in a 3.9 tray, however you are still using valuable space, since the tray size hasn't changed.

In the 2.2 pot system the trays are to close together and can't be detached. The design does not lend itself to growing cannabis. It is my opinion, that the autopot company should/could/would make a 2.2 with the trays being singles, not doubles.

Yes, I understand you can use 2.2 pots in the 3.9, but thought why buy more pots? Why not use some 2 gallon smart pots that i already have. Furthermore, are there additional growing benefits that would result in useing cloth/fabric pots.

I don't fully undestand you, sorry I am not native english speaker... What is the trouble here?

I fill 3x3 tent with two autos. Lastest yield was 375g dry. I think I also can do that with just one auto. You think that's not enough? Then buy bigger tent and two sets if you want more.
You can SCROG if you buy those "green two together" pots. Then this tray isn't a trouble anymore.
Also you can (like me) use only 5-6L of medium in those 15L pots.
Or you just can buy smaller pots in local store, here where I live those pots are less than 3 dollars.

Wow 375g dry that's awesome!
I don't have the cash nor space for larger tent setup.
Problem how to grow 3 or 4 different strains at the same time...i guess it's not possible since autopots grow them so big and lush unless however you train by scrog or lst or top in smaller pots.

Please feel free to experiment with the system, it’s obvious the fabric pots will work with it since they use them in the XL system on their website. Start a journal here and I know I will follow along to see what you discover. Sorry, I would have experimented, but I was too busy trying not to screw up my grows and smoking my harvests as I’m a novice and lazy grower. I grow in a 3x3 area and average over 7 oz per two auto plants every 10 weeks in the 1Pot system and three of my grows are here on AFN for all to see regardless of my mistakes. In addition, this grow I AM experimenting by using the 2.2 gallon pot in the system with photogenic plants and is available to see here. I already foresee it being really crowded in my tent 60 days from today and I had to cut my planned 4 pot grow down to 3 plants due to a mutant plant.

I have lots of fabric pots, I buy them in bulk from a greenhouse supply but the $22 to purchase 4 extra 2.2g pots did not seem like an outrageous price. The other reason to have extra pots is to prestart your next grow while finishing your last grow, since you have to hand feed the first three weeks anyhow. I think it is a testament to how well the system works in that not many are experimenting with it. It just works and for us lazy and traveling growers that want as little time investment in their grow as possible, it’s a Godsend. For the grow master that lives in their garden, I believe Hansbricks has shown what monsters can be grown with these systems in a limited grow area.

While you are experimenting, you might want to consider the Aquavalve Cover. Get a tray that fits the bottom of your tent, add the aquavalve and cover, throw in as many fabric pots as it will hold, hook to a reservoir, and watch how fast you fill a tent. Please let us know how it turns out as here we all learn from each other.

Only real issue with different strains might be different nutrient values. This is where an extra reservoir helps. Sorry, more money, I know. The price of simplicity. Of course you could just go buy a kitchen trash can in the 13gallon variety and make your own.

Thanks Hemi--- i wasnt aware that the xl version was shown on their website with fabric pots. After reading the desription from their website, it appears they promote the benefits of smart pots that we are all aware of. In addition, they promote to use a pot sock to contain the roots.
I plan on purchasing soon, after my present grow. Just trying to do some research now.

I appreciate your comments and insights.
