Hey bro I have used Dr earth and plan to continue, and I have also been surprised at the amount of hate directed towards both the nutes and the mentioned you tuber. Part of this hate is from growers who believe Coco should never be treated as soil and it should be treated like a hydro medium. They have valid points but I think every grower has to find what works for them.
My question is when does it move from being treated as a hydro medium to being used like a soil medium.
Coco IS a hydro medium. Is it the adding Of the amendments that make it “soil” like or is it the amount of additives that eventually move it to “soil” like.
I’ve experienced differences in watering these types of medium coco vs soil. Coco amended with a bit of compost and some amount of tablespoons of organic dry amendments still requires you to water like coco/hydro. The more you mix into it and the more soil like it becomes.
??
As far as the youtuber, honestly I think it's a few things, I think some of the hate is simply because he is a sponsored grower who enjoys monetary success from his work.
Some is from people who try to use his method un-successfully.
Others think he is giving bad advice. And others still, think he's lying about his methods simply because it's in the best interest of his sponsors.
I think he does give valid info as much as possible, but he is human and still makes mistakes.
If you want stronger stalks use fans, the plants will grow towards the light, and will have to grow thicker and stronger to grow against the wind resistance. Don't over do it, just enough to move them around a bit you don't want them laying over because of it.
Also make sure your lights aren't too far away from your canopy this will cause them to stretch out and have thin stalks. If you are working with plants of different sizes, put the shorter ones on boxes or something to keep the whole canopy at the same height. Good luck bro.
