Thanks for agreeing Archie. This is actually the biggest hurdle I've had as a new grower. When to water is stressful enough. But...how much to water is just as important, maybe more. I would love for someone to chime in and set me straight, if I'm wrong.
We all know our fruits can only get as big as our roots allow. "Bigger the roots, bigger the fruits". So, we need to concentrate on roots. All of us new guys look at what's happening above the soil. "Oh man, my plant ain't growing brah, what's wrong?"
My understanding, as a new grower myself...your roots have 2 stages of development. The first stage is the first 3 weeks. In the first 2 weeks we stare at the seedling, waiting for it to grow. Wondering why it hasn't grown more....roots brah. By the 3rd week we notice a considerable growth...yay! She's growing.
Then there is another root growth spurt. This happens in the first week(s) of flower. This is when we need to give our plants enough water to go beyond the root mass that has already been established. We want the roots to grow grow grow. Without that, we are left with stunted plants. Saturate the pot at this point. If you don't, your roots won't search the bottom. You want your roots to search for water.
