What do you do to pre-charge your Coco? I used some Burpee Organic coco seedling mix last time and trouble right out of the gait. Someone said maybe the coco needed to buffered first, is that what pre-charging does?
I think maybe they meant that you should flush/rinse the coco with ph'd water to rinse out any salts,etc... Pre-charge is using 1/4 dose of nutes ( like 2ml micro, 1ml grow,1ml bloom, etc) well for me it works out to about that. I pre-charge after rinsing coco, letting decent amount to drain off. depending on your coco it can contain high salts from how they process it, sometimes it's better buy like cocotek or cocogro both are good in my opinion and both low in salts. BTW what ph were ya using with your coco? is your meter calibrated often?

I'm kinda ashamed to admit this but, I'm positive that was the problem. PH First ever grow and it was a full Organic one. I was told my water which was 7.7 would be fine but didn't know I was using coco seedling mix as a "SOLO cup" plug. Almost instant Mg def., so then I was over watering trying get that corrected. But man I tell ya, the plants still grew like crazy in that mix. It comes with very small amount of nutes in it that's why I thought rinsing it may flush them out? Would it be good idea to add Ca/Mg first to buffer in the future? And I PH my water in the future, at least in the beginning. I calibrate often, so the pen is cool.

some people don't think ya need nutes out of the gate, I disagree when in coco I feel pre-charge is super important..

I totally agree bro,i always pre charge my coco but only with cal/mag and rhizotonic, never had a problem doing it that way but when i never pre charge it the girls are stunted and take forever to take off

Yeah I'm thinking Ph was your issue too and not so much salts from coco! Ph in coco must be strict, you should always maintain 5.85-6.10 I try shoot in-between 5.96 +/- .05 using ATC(automatic temperature control)Ph meter. for sure 7.7 way to high for coco,to high for soil even. so yeah ph one of the most important things to keep in check IMO, to me if thats in check everything else should be as well.

like I said when I pre-charge, my plants given all that stuff right up front, so I don't have battle issue's or play catch-up! I just completed 4 plants that had really zero issues through-out entire grow. so that should say a lot.

Hey @AutoBeanStalk , i have a new addition to the journal.. check it!!!

Diesel Ryder.. past attempt to grow these yielded all males, i will try again.. anyway, with the Thai Ryder seeds, one had a good length taproot, the other had good taproot, both are now in the precharged coco... the DR were planted straight into the coco..the others are starting to crack the seed pod open

im going to start germinating two seeds and see what i get. They are reg seeds so hopefully i get a male so i can collect some dragon pollen.
Unfortunately all my equipment isn't here i was gonna move out so took everything but i ended up staying, so i just need to get my stuff back.
