DAY 35 - Auto Big Gun - First Grow Journal

So here they are, day 35. The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly. In the first picture, you can see the plant in the front looks quite different. After 48 hrs of darkness and a 12/12 light schedule for what will soon be 5 nights - it is still not really showing sex. Just a few pistils on top but that's it. The plant all the way to the left is the Amnesia - it's also the last pic in the series. I am guessing the other BG (in the bag/box) is so much smaller because its pot is little. The Amnesia is small because I was giving it too much air.....fan was too strong, lesson learned. It went from tucked leaves and hugging itself to stretching out and up to the light! Pretty cool. I think it's pretty obvious what one will be done first......
Hope I can finish STRONG !

Day 39 : All plants receiving full strength nutes and loving it. I thought two of the big guns were light green because of different phenos but it must have been nitrogen deficiency. They are dark green now, really dark. Pics tomm. Today it's sunny and warm for the first time in months so it's time to get outside. Good day every1 !

:woohoo:

NICE..you need like 2 weeks of 12/12 ..If you have another tent thats what I would do..Or leave it till the rest are done It will be HUGE but yield will be too.If the one in bloom is not growing about an inch a day its time for bloom if you havent already started..good luck

Happy Grow mate :kusht: I am planning to by a 600 watts. what is your height is your grow box? And what is a distance a plant must have from a 600watts HPS ? Cheers:Cool bud:

Thanks ! The light needs to be 18 inches away - and the cabinet is 6 feet high and 4 ft across.

 The only downside to the HPS is the amount of heat it generates. My box has two intakes and one heavy duty outtake - with it being the winter months the temps were as easy to manage as cracking a window, but the summer time will require some serious AC. In the meantime I will be trying my luck with a few beans outside  If you ever do get your HPS I'd humbly suggest doing your VEG under CFL or a MH. Most HPS are MH Compatible.... I think the HPS is too strong and that they may prevent proper stretching and height.
Thanks for stopping by and saying HIGH ! Cheers ! :bump:

Day 43 : What have I learned so far ?

To be fair and in the spirit of honesty, I did a good bit of research coming in. Time flies - and I've loved Mary Jane for 20 years now. I knew about Sativa and Indicas, etc and considered myself really well informed. I had no idea I had basically just scratched the surface. They really did turn a "weed" into a science ! It sure does have a ton of amazing properties for being just a "weed" -

So far I have learned a few pearls. First and foremost, Fungus gnats are bastards, but they only eat dead plant material, and they're super easy to kill by putting sand, aquarium gravel, or a similar medium on the top of the soil. It suffocates their larva.

These plants love love love soil aeration. The absolute worst time to stress one is when they are babies - from germination to early veg. The veg stage is really important as it's a major variable with respect to the ultimate yield. Heat stress prevents proper plant stretching. If you have a good sized pot, decent growing medium, Light, good temps, and air - and make it through germination and veg incident free, you could be set up for a good sized yield. There is such a thing as too much air/wind. My Amnesia plant literally hugged itself for 2 weeks because I had too much wind blowing on it. I stunted its growth. The window that a plant grows good strong THC is small, and it breaks down into CBD and worse if you don't get to it at the right time.

Finally, the last two thing I have learned so far are as follows. Pistils give way to swollen Calyx - and they look a little like a male pollen sac at first glance.
Last but not least - growing pot is like doing jail time. If you scratch off the days, each and every one, one at a time - it is going to seem like an eternity waiting on the big day.
