Lighting Anyone using UVB supplementation to their LED/COB LED??

Just as the title describes.. I'm on the fence of getting rid of my HPS all together, to make way for better electrical efficiency.. Part of the reason I've kept the HPS is because of the UVB/IR that is given off, and according to a couple studies, UVB enhances THC production..

Here's what I've got:

1 - 600w HPS vented hood, centered over most of the grow
1 - DIY MarsII-to-COB panel, centered over the other side, 3500K color temp
6 - AutoCOBs, all 3500K

Within the next couple months, I'm either going to drop the wattage of the HPS, add some UVB fixtures on the side that has no coverage from the HPS, and hope that helps..


Or......

Ditch the HPS and just convert to 100% COB LED, but adding some UVB bulbs in between for a little extra boost..

Any suggestions??

I went from HPS directly to COB and I havent noticed a difference at all in what I was growing..I grew some diesels side by side with 200W of COB's covering 4 and the other 4 had a 600W HPS and couldnt tell any difference myself! i know that doesnt help answer a great deal but may help a bit!

Interesting, am just coming over to led from hps as well, and thinking about adding some far reds... found these on amazon, am thinking of adding 1 in 1 corner of the tent to see if there's a difference.

You want CREE XPE or Osram Oslon.

I had originally started using a Mars II 400 eq. panel that had a couple 5w UV diodes and had good results but I ended up converting the panel to a CREE 37w COBs and would like to add that back in.. Thanks for the info guys!!

I was growing critical + (photo) from dinafem seeds over 1 year (clones only, SOG).
I have a digital ballast and used dual spectrum hps's (250-400-600 watt) in a cooltube (80 cm x 80 cm tent). Plus, added sometimes 8 x t5ho's (55 watt each, 2700k, 6500k), or 4 x 80 watt cfls, smd leds etc. I was never growing something else than critical + (due to location problems) and cloned that one seed like there is no tomorrow. All i want to say, is, everything changed after i get osram ultra vitalux 300 watt uva / uvb lamp. Last batch i growed was under 250 watt hps (cooltubed) + osram vitalux 15 min x 6 per day. I never smoked something like that before in my growing carrier. I have maybe over 20 runs under my belt (perpetual), but that one was the real killer. I made some space cakes and i really needed someone to help me to come down. I was high almost over 2 days. (growing not so long, but smoking over 15 years inc cakes and stuff )

Now i am building a COB setup (5 x 40 watts 3000k), with some smd leds (smd 4014, 240 leds per meter x 5,120 watt, 6500k) and 2 x osram ultra vitalux for 2 autoflowers. I will never grow without uvbs again. Hope this helps.

I found this blog http://medicalmarijuanagrowing.blogspot.com/2013/02/uvb-uva-lighting-study-results.html where he just turns the uvb lights on the entire grow. The osram is 300w he used 6 reptile t5 lights like this Amazon product ASIN B00AQU8H1S Have you noticed a huge difference in trichome production with the osram just at 15 minutes x 6 times a day have you tried more with diminishing results? I am thinking of getting the t5's but I don't know how to fit it in.... was thinking about side lighting till I saw your osram post.

this is exactly what i was thinking:

When i was checking trichs, i couldnt believe my eyes, i never seen so much trichs together, bounded, it was like uhm afro hair style. Like this but imagine it total covered with trichs (no greenies)

This bulb is very powerful. I wouldn't run it for 12 hours. Besides, it may fry plants, if not, 300 watt is too expensive to run imho. I think, i will get another one and will let em run for just 15 min x 4 (2 hours x 300 watt) Even 30 min per day is enough.

These bulbs used for

• Sunlight simulation
• Glue curing
• Artificial material aging
• Exposure of UV-sensitive photoresist coatings
• Terrariums (big sized)
• Equine solaria.

So reptile bulbs are like toys if you want to compare em. Be warned. Be save.
