You think you know your climate, and then you get a weekend in June with temps 30ºF over the norm. Anyone else scrambling to deal with unanticipated heat?

Yep dealing with a heatwave for outdoor and indoor around here in the west. But we got monsoon season started and
that even gets worse with the sticky humidity that is hard to deal with.
I'm in the PNW, so it's not desert dry, but it's certainly not what I would call humid (I'm from the NE originally). Our summers are usually moderate enough that we don't use AC. The only AC I own is a portable that was in the garage and used for growing, but now it's in the house so that we have one "safe room" for the heatwave. I was using the AC in the garage fall and spring, no way I could do a summer indoor here.

Have you done anything different to deal with the heat?

I'm growing in a hybrid structure this year, but it gets hotter in there than outside, so I've shaded it about 65% and it has a dirt floor, so I wet that down to create some evaporative cooling. If things get over 115 in there or I see visible wilting, I'm thinking I might have to just put a full opaque tarp over it until it cools back down.

Edit: also, I wrapped the pots in reflective sheet insulation, that really helps keep the heat off the pots and they dry out much slower.

I hope your grows do ok, but more importantly you guys stay safe. That kind of heat is no joke.
Thanks. We can usually open the windows at night and cool off the house, but when the overnight low is 84 degrees, we’re kind of screwed.

unusually hot here too but not like a lot of other places. still a pain in the ass, I am trying to dry my last crop and it is definetly warmer than I would like, hopefully will not dry too fast.

We often have temps in the 60-70 at the height of summer and rarely see 85 but we have 85-90 degree weather for the for seeable future.
I hate it

But on the plus side the timing for me starting my next grow is great the warm temps will help with germination and seedling growth

Just curious: if you had a structure that you already had shade cloth on but was still steadily heating up, how hot would you let it get before you put a fully opaque tarp over it and left the girls in 100% shade?

As it stands its about 6º above the outside temps, and the high today is supposed to get to 106º, with Monday possibly hitting 114º.

Is 120º with some sunlight worse than 114º in darkness?
