I have a tent in an unheated but nicely insulated garage. Got some big elec bills this past winter though running 600 watt HPS lights and an oil filled electrical heater to keep the temps warm.

I'm thinking I'll work on insulating the tent next. At least putting some insulation on the top of the tent and any outside walls.

Would fiberglass batting insulation work for the roof if I just cover the roof of the tent from above?

And for side walls, outside facing walls, is there any high R factor pink boards that would work or maybe even a blanket? I don't want to have to deal with keeping fiberglass hung on the walls. A board or blanket product would be easier to install.

You could always double the rigid insulation boards. Don't forget to do the floor too!

I put plywood on the garage concrete pad before setting up the tent. Can not redo that now since the tent is up and I am way to lazy to take it down or empty and move it.

I built an 8x8 out of 2x3 and 4x8 insulation board. I would bet you could do the same only just box the tent. Duct tape makes an excellent hinge for the insulation board.

What was the product you used? And would you happen to know if it worked well? Guess you don't really have anything to compare it to since you built a room instead of insulating an existing tent that has before and after things that can be compared.

I was thinking fiberglass would work great on the top and better than rigid boards. And then like you said duct tape and rigid insulation board for walls.

I'm just not sure if this will insulate enough to be worth it since there isn't a vapor barrier or framing studs etc. Its going to be pretty loose with air movement involved.

You could always put insulation just under the tent floor. The duct tape should prevent airflow. Could you make a frame from PVC plumbing pipe? Its easy to work with and not expensive. Make it larger than the tent.

I don't want to frame the tent. PVC is actually expensive for me locally. I think I'll look at some thick fiberglass for the top of the roof and just lay it up there. And then rigid board with duct tape for a couple of the outside facing walls of the tent.

I understand! I use the rigid insulation inside my tent on the floor.
