These are all excellent ideas. I'm currently drawing up plans for an external reservoir myself. Mostly because someone will murder me if I throw down $300+ on a chiller.

The plants are now 35 inches tall and 24 inches from the light (max height).

Awesome set up. My first attempt at DWC failed miserably due to accidentally dialing the air pump ALL the way down to all 4 buckets. It was with photo clones, just started a thread today about my next attempt ( with autos, half in the dwc, half in coco) which I will be updating when the beans come in. I have been reading everything I can to learn as much as possible before undertaking the next one, but I honestly think that you have too much pressure coming out of your stones rolling your roots around themselves. Thinking the air is creating a horizontal vortex current in your rectangle res and rolling them up on themselves. they still look beautiful up top, and great color and mass below, but they aren't growing that way in purpose. I do hold a degree in wildlife science, but have no experience to speak of about growing other than what I have crammed in to a year of prepping, a month of setting up, and then 3 weeks to murder the beautiful clones. Just my thoughts, but can you adjust the pressure or add a few more hoses coming in the other side of the res to more stones to dissipate, disrupt,and even out the direction of O2 circulation inside a little???

I feel like it's one of those things that will take the rest of my life to get close to mastering, and it's a huge learning curve for noobs like myself. But let's face it. The reward makes it worth it. And as nerve racking and worrisome learning to grow successfully and efficiently is, it is still fun as hell. Loving every minute of it. Plus it is legal, accessible, and socially acceptable in my state. Perfect. While I am at it, I am going to learn how to grow my own salad greens in dwc. Already got some tomato seeds sprouted while waiting on the autos I ordered. Pretty fun indeed, plus it gave me an excuse to turn the garage into something way better than it was.

Well done, your set up looked top notch and you can tell that you really cared for them along the way. For something called weed, they can be finicky fuckers.

Oh dear..

The plants are 52 inches tall and 8 to 12 inches from a light that is at max height! I think I've bent all the branches I can. The ballast is now at 75% because it looked like the plants were going to die under 100% power. I had no idea they were going to grow this much. Big mistake!
