Howdy: Got to get rid of my second bag of Roots Organic. It is acidic, Rosenthal's book puts it at 4.5 and my run-off has been a battle at around 5.5. Lots of instruction online but auto are frickin prissy (no I didn't use that other word--I thought about it). I have on hand hydrated lime and a product called dolomitic lime pelletized 60% thru 200 mesh and 80% thru 100 mesh. Going to use 3 gallon buckets. What amount do you recommend or the procedure to determine the proper amount. Many thanks for the input. Truly

:howdy:bro i just add a 1 tsp to one gal of soil, this time i use maxicrop cal-seaweed feed to the soil, which as add lime in it,seem to like it :Dhope this help :peace:

yeah, add a tsp of lime to a gallon water (dolomite lime) and water in... wait a few days and see how your ph id doing and how plants respond... lime is slow acting... I say slow acting usually like a month to show ph in soil I've heard... Ideally lime should be mixed in with your soil mix... and i dunno about quantity... havent really gotten dialed on my own soil mixes yet... lots of things to tweak in still ...lol

I use baking soda for ph up.. very little like 1/4 tsp per gallon of water....

hope this helps

The hydrated lime is good if you've got an established plant with low pH that you want to raise quickly. Dolomite is better for mixing in with the soil as JM said.

Thanks all. Right, I am looking toward new grow. Soon. Having just had my Pandora "come-of-the-closet" at post harvest as a she male--I am irritated and ready to make up for 10 weeks asap (see thread in this section-for humor sake). Was concerned about the pelletized dolomite and mixing in the soil. Thought, I would go with 1 tbsp per gallon of soil mixed well and then watered as if flushing. Then water again and check both run-off and soil PH before planting. I had read that it would not be too good for roots to make contact with any of the pellets directly. This may be an exaggeration, as you can see in post above they are super small. Could just amend upper portion of soil if that is a big deal. True, Muddy, hydrated for quick adjustments. Of course, I could go with egg shells. Might be safer.

Try throwing those dolomite lime pellets in an old blender set on grind/chop-it'll turn them to fine powder quick. I had to do this with epsoma dolomite lime pellets as thats all i could find-it worked great.Just don't breathe in the fine dust when you take the cover off the blender.I let it settle for a few minutes first.

Sounds excellent fullauto.
