New Grower Amber Trichomes on Autos

hey muddy your question intreegs me, because we have been running for atleast 10-11 weeks now, and we only finding milky trichs we have an autofrisian and im trying to find out on google but getting no where. im partly thinking if we dont see any within the next week we dont care its getting cleansed.
ovbly i have read your thread on the life cycle so may vary couple weeks or so.
so what do you think sir should we get on flushing in the next week even if we dont see any amber trichs ?
Is it just me or do others also find that autos don't produce many amber trics? I've let plants go as long as 14 weeks, to the point where all the primary and secondary fan leaves were gone and the bud leaves were all brown and still no amber. 100% cloudy but few if any are amber.

from doing some research we've found that frisian dew is a mix or super skunk X purple star.
so super skunk is of an afghan decent so considering what people have said here there should be some amber trichs showing soon, but hey since its an auto hybrid it may be different all together im not too clued up on breeding etc
so were keep an eagle eye out during the next week

As you can see, this thread was started back in 1/11, so almost 4 years ago now. We've obviously learned a lot more since then. We still don't have a final answer but it seems to be related to the type of light being used. Amber is a response to UV light and most of the grow lights we use to grow autos have little or no UV, which could explain why they don't amber. I wrote this thread as a response to this question. It's an alternative way to know when to harvest. https://www.autoflower.org/f44/when-harvest-autos-your-leaves-will-tell-you-4889.html

so since were using cfls there is no uv light what so ever so i start flush once all main fan leaves die ?

Mirroring what Muddy said, I've been experimenting with added UV-B 10% reptile lights to supplement the CFL+LEDs. In doing so, I noticed some but not all strains I have tried appear to partially show some ambers, usually more so on the bud leaves instead of the actual calyxes. So, I think it's almost safe at this point to forget all about ambers on autos. Some might maybe get em, that's all. So yeah, I kinda follow his leaf guide plus gut feeling now :)

I start my final cleanse when the big fan leaves are about half yellowed. From that point there is usually about 2 weeks left in the grow. I harvest when all the big fan leaves are gone and the smaller, secondary bud leaves are about half yellowed.
