apologies but I posted this first in new growers questions forum and didn't find the reassurance I needed.

I'm heading into week 7 of flower. It's an unknown photo strain. Pistils have browned and I have some Amber trichomes. Looking for a few solid answers because I'm not sure what to do as it's my first grow.

You can always harvest a little bit to see how you like that stage of ripeness.
I have the same dilemma as you with a plant, so I harvested about an ounce wet yesterday.

If you're an edible maker, you can even have a same day as harvest edible.
Coarsely grinding, then putting under an AC vent can dry it in a few hours.
You'll know it's dry when it's lost about 80% of its weight, and then it's safe to decarb.

The same strategy can be used for smoke, but it will be uncured harsh.

In my case, the herb did lose 80% in about 8 hours (depends on local humidity), and I'm decarbing right now.
I'll harvest the remainder next weekend.

Thanks dude, I'm not into edibles. I think I'll double check tonight and maybe take the main stalk away and wait for the others to catch up. Do you know how long it takes for them to all change to Amber once they have started?

49 days from flip. Am guessing by looking at the bud structure and the amount of white hairs you have another 3 weeks. Trichs on trim leaves ripen well ahead of the nug.
70 days in flower isn't an unreasonable length of time, running 3 photos now, 2 are 65 day strains and 1 is an 85 day strain.

49 days from flip would be Sunday for me if you mean when I switched from flower to veg?
Thanks for your help dude. I'll leave her for a qhile then.

Yep photos we count from day we turn the lights to 12/12. Most breeders will have an average time to harvest. Given yours is a mystery seed.... More equatorial strains will take more time to finish. More mountainous Afghany strains tend to finish faster.

An old timer told me a long time ago when I thought they were done to give them 2 more weeks. Been rock solid advise.
The majority of flowering time the plant is building the outside structure and shape, it's that last couple weeks that everything moves in and the weight comes. You have some pistils turning, but the majority are still white. If you want a good look, peek just before lights on, or just after lights off, take a pic with flash, you'll get a real idea how much white there is. If you do, post it and let us look too.

Thanks for your help dude. I really appreciate it. I took a few pictures in the dark
