Day 8: My RRF and MI5 have arrived. Started germination of x1 RRF fem, x1 MI5 fem and x1 DinaFem Automatic Fruit. I noticed a couple of gnats flying around inside the tent. No clue how they got there. I got one free hand, but the rest proved to be too quick. Based on the information I was able to find online it seems like the easiest solution is some tabacco tea(ciggeretts soaked in water for 24 hours.)
Has anyone had expirience using it, and if so, is it ok to use on seedlings?

* How much is appropriate to spray on the soil to kill the gnat larve but not harm the plant?

** Should I hold off untill the plant matures before spraying? (2x 7 days or so from seed 3x have not even pushed above soil yet... 24 hours since they popped.)

I am thinking about treating all of my soil with this tabacco water so that the larve don't get at my roots.
Any advice would be appriciated. Thanks everyone.

great choice im 6 weeks into an afghan kush ryder and both seeds auto'ed. they dont seem to swell as fast but they are coming along nicely with tons of trichs. you'll love it trust me

Day 9: RRF MI5 and Dinafem Automatic Fruit all popped within 24 hours and were placed right into 5g pots. :jump:

Day 10: Seedlings have poked above soil, and are looking good.

* However, I spotted a gnat larva in pot #2 of my AKR. :finger: Yes just one, lol. I actually pulled up a chair and looked for them for about an hour, and couldnt find another one. They are fast for Larva! Then I realised that pot #2 was significantly lighter in color than the AKR in pot #1.

I abandoned the tabacco idea altogether, it looked really gross in the plastic bottle, and I didnt want to subject the plants to it for fear it would stunt them in some way. I think I am going to order some of that Gnat killer online... any other suggestions, or previous experiences would be appriciated. :toke:

You can start with new soil make sure not to use soil that has been sitting outside other than that idk man im a newbie grower myself

The root system has already started to grow, so I would not want to re pot them into diffrent soil. In addition, gnat treatment for my soil is maybe 5-6 dollars, so its also more cost effective to just treat the soil. I am just not sure about what product to use.

Got a bit side tracked and havent been updating as much as I would like.

Here is a pic of the two AKR's at roughly day 14 from seed.
