I will be using 2 four gallon pots.. Should I let them sprout in something smaller and transplant them into something bigger or go ahead and put them in the four gallon pots? I've read mixed opinions about this without a clear explanation on what I should do.. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, any info on nutes will also be appreciated.

In my experience planting autos in big/permanent pots from seed is the best way to go, unless your a pro lol. I say this because ive had problems transplanting with Auto's specificly.. It stunted their growth. Ive never had transplant problems with regular photoperiod strains though... This is because they will just keep vegging past any problems the transplant has caused, where as the Autos are usualy about to flower or are flowering when u transplant so this usualy causes stress in my opinion. Autos roots also tend to grow down more then out since their life cycle is so short, so its best to start them in big deep pots. Although I have transplanted autos with success, I would not recommend it.

As for nutes, I just used flowering nutes once I see bud sites, but most people feed veg nutes after first couple weeks, then feed bloom nutes, and flush two weeks before harvest...I would recommend Fox farm Trio which is the Grow big(for veg), Tiger Bloom(for flower), and Big bloom(you use this with Tiger Bloom). I know there are probably much better nutes out there, so hopefully another member will comment on nutes for you.
Good Luck with your grow!

You told me everything i wanted to hear, so thanks a lot for your help!!

and should i use any additives like open sesame, beastie bloomz, cha-ching?

I wouldn't start any in straight ffof. Lots of horror stories of it being to hot. As for the additives. As a first time grower I would pick a proven product line. Something you could get plenty of help with. Fox farm trio seems popular, has to be a reason.

So what kind of soil would you recommend? Make my own soil or get some kind of other soil?
