Wish i could!!
I've had several auto grows, but this is my first photo grow. I have always done lite trimming on my plants before, but am wondering if I should give these girls a good trim under the skirt or leave them alone. They are just over 7 weeks old, and I plan on switch light schedules at 10 weeks. This is the first time I have used a scrog, and would like to fill it up. These are the plants a few weeks ago.

And this is what they look like today.

Any advice would be appreciated. Just feel like I need to act soon and didn't know which way to go. I don't know if it makes any difference, but they are aussie blues and pot of gold(mainly sativa/mainly indica hybrids). Thanks in advance!

Plants are looking real good. Yes give them a good trim underneath the canopy. You may have to do it several times between now and the time you are Harvest. Depending on how long you veg for the plant can be very big before you decide to flip the flower. You may have to trim multiple times. But keeping the canopy nice in the underneath open and Airy will allow airflow underneath the canopy which will make for a much better Harvest reduce the chances of mildew infections a host of other things. Good luck my friend Happy growing

There are a few things going on here.. Bit yes, if you intended to do a "scrog", the defoliation/clean up process should've started weeks ago when the plants were topped.. The set up pictured isn't technically a scrog at all.. It's simply two plants inside of support netting. In a scrog, the branches are woven through the squares as they stretch, and all secondary and or lower bud sites are removed as this is done. This is so that there is NOTHING growing below the netting and so the plant can focus solely on growing big main colas.. the only thing growing in a true scrog, are the tops of main colas.. No lower buds at all.. (Because they won't get light if the scrog is full)

You kind of have two worlds colliding right now.. Your plants are not woven through the netting so no there is no space/chance for light penetration.. And there has been no defoliation done so the plants are using a bunch of energy to make a bunch of lower bud sites that will not get enough light to fully develop.

Since is a photo period, and still in veg.. you can do a huge defoliation and give them time recover before flip. But if you do, I would watch a few scrog videos on YouTube or somewhere so you can see how the underside should look and why.

This is a pic of the beginning stage of a scrog

Notice how the branches are woven into the screen. As the plant grows, you tuck the branch into the next square. You repeat this until the net is full or close to it, remove all lower growth, then flip to flower..

This is how the under side of a scrog should look.

All clean. No growth at all underneath. But up top, all colas. The plants can't focus solely on growing colas. You still have time to make this into a scrog grow.. But it will take some time and some work.. The way that the set up is right now, technically, the netting is not doing anything at all besides looking cool.

Thanks
Thanks for the input. Ill watch some videos and put in some work to try and fix it. As this is my first time using a net, all i can do is learn from my mistakes and get better moving forward. Wish i would've asked weeks ago.

Even if it isn't a perfect SCRoG, the netting is still training your plants into a great shape, and any work you did there will make a difference.

They would definitely not be quite so flat if left to grow naturally, even after a topping, so that will give you nice even lighting across the canopy.

Until stretch is over I'd keep tucking new shoots under the net to fill out the net, and start cleaning up underneath.

Overall I think the plants look great!

Thanks! I have been using fuzzy ties to train the plant to spread across the net, weaving them through when they reach the next square. Its kind of hard to see with this jungle. The square are roughly 5x5 inches. This has been an involved process for sure. Im just hoping for the best yield and thought this the best way. Love this site and have been a member for a while. I am so appreciative for any and all feedback.

Looking @Proph pics, i will lower my net and start keep up ob the undergrowth next time. Glad to see those pics!

the scrog also helps keep the branches up and not fall over. i generally have to scrog everytime i do photos but not autos. i dont weave the branches as much but try to ensure everything gets light etc. the netting will help either way, but a nice weave will do you well. Also expect a big stretch when you do switch to 12/12. those girls will push hard to get up there. generally double to 2x your growth, straight up.

Want to say this is the most extreme trim I've ever given. Everything below the canopy was cut. Think I will wait another 2.5 weeks and see if she has healed enough to flip 12/12. @karlkutta I've only grown autos so this is new territory with a photo. Hopefully this turns out good and they heal up quickly. Will have some anxiety over the next couple days for sure.
