you can use household cfls if it comes to that, many do with decent results.
just more heat to deal with than led or t5 is all.

IMHO I'd skip that led. It lacks in spectrum and the fact they don't even list the wattage of the diodes is a huge red flag. I'm also suspicious of any led that cost less than 300 bucks, I know there's deals out there but a cheap led is a cheap led. In a box as small as what you want led isn't the right fit. What would be great for you would be PL-L lamps. They're those long U shaped cfls. They're longer and flatter than curly cfls so they cover more and take up less space. They also have higher lumen output and a remote ballast so you can remove half of the heat from the grow area. That is not to say they don't put out heat, they still get hot, just less so than curly cfls. Look em up.

I'd second that...

you get what you par for typically... :toke:

blackstar 240 if you want led...

I've got a blackstar 240 flowering model and it's freaking awesome. Only thing is I think it would bleach plants whiter than a bed sheet in a 40x40x40 grow box. I assume we're talking cm here.

Here you can see the two types of bulbs that Piggy is talking about. These are 30w a piece. 4 of the longer ones would give you 120w in that small space and a cool Blue Mystic. Of course more is better with cfl's, but you have to keep heat in mind.
I wouldn't say they get "hot", though, Piggy. Cumulatively warm enough to raise temps, but not hot. :2cents:

Just citing personal experience. I've had cfls turn grow cabs into ovens when the fan failed for just a little bit. Cfl heat can add up, especially with their little ballast attached to them. That's why i like the remote ballast on the PL-L so much. I think you might be confused as to what pl-l lamps are noods, there are none in that picture. Those are all cfl lamps. Here's a bunch of links to pl-l grows.

Also, less light is wasted because of the long flat shape of the pl-l. With cfls a lot of light is lost in the middle of the spiral, bouncing around uselessly. Don't get me wrong, cfls are great and i still use them to grow. i just prefer pl-l.

Mr. Piggy, do you think a 100 or 135 blackstar flowering led would surfice for a single, maybe a second plant?

Ive noticed all the 240 pics are of huge rooms, just need something for bedside in a corner..

Ah ha. Got it. :bong: That link wouldn't open for me, but google showed me what pl-l is. :crying:

Don't forget reflective material (or flat white) for inside your area. :smokebuds:

sure, but the 240 only covers a 2x2 foot area so I'm not sure what your definition of huge is? If you're wanting to just put a light in a corner of the room with one plant I should warn you of a few things.
1) these led lights are MOTHERFUCKING BRIGHT! Like, cause damage from too much exposure bright. It's not something I'd run just exposed.
2) the real power of these leds comes into play when they can bounce light back off a surface. So they don't really outshine other lights until they're in a tent or grow cab with reflective sides.
3) did I mention blackstars are MOTHERFUCKING BRIGHT AS ALL HELL!?

Have you looked up on pc grows? sounds like it's right up your alley.

Yeah, intend to have it covered properly. Was outdoors but stuff weather/people interveined, atm I have just a 240v 25W house lamp and you can see the light gaping through. That pc grow looks like something to try at some point but at this point in time I think just a mess would be made of it.

I have 2x 18 day old PJEMs 5-6 inches, each in 400-500ml(about 16oz) pots so kinda stuck with this set up now. Where they are has 4 sides white, hopefully that aids some. Have a big clothes cupboard could use but its beautiful wood. Is the lightness damage done just to the eyes and plant or are you implying like wall paint pealing bad?
