Every time I go seed shopping, I get lured into the advertised scents described. But after 3 grows, all I smell is pot, some smell stronger then other's, but certainly no fruity or distinct advertised smell, just a sweet smell. Is there really any merit to these orange, strawberry etc. scents they advertise?
I presently just passed week 11, with 3 Orange Sherbets by FB, and I really had my hope's up to catch a slight orange scent, but no cigar, I'm kind of bummed out about it.

Kind of up to the individual, much like perfumes.....some have better noses for distinctions....took me a few try's at sniffing bags of bud but I can now pick out pines, piss, fuels and citrus smells.....all unspecific mind you, but I can distinguish them. You might try a strain with a very specific oder ( one of the diesels maybe) and keep trying it concentrating on a general smell profile like fuel instead of a very specific odor.

Thanks for the insight Bill. Due to all my rookie mistakes my first two grows, I just figured that was the reason I couldn't achieve the scents I was expecting. Now that I finally got what I consider a true healthy grow, I was really expecting to smell the advertised aroma's.
From now on, I'm buying my seeds based on THC%, it's obvious to me I'm never going To be a wine taster, and I certainly am not going To be a taste tester for weed either.

Think Bill summed it up pretty good. I can catch subtle hints of Strawberry on Strawberry Nuggets for example.

My Orange Sherbet smells of almost a spoiled orange juice. I did find that one to be pretty close to "the name". The Brother Mendel Pina Kaleidoscope that I have going now smells like pineapple candy and underarms.

I'm no cork sniffer though and I do enjoy the smells. At the end of the day when I vape them, they all taste a little different. But they all get me toasted.

EDIT - meant to say that I can catch subtle whiffs as advertised. But I've never grown like Zkittlez for instance and was floored by thinking that I was tasting da rainbow!

I'm the same bro people say whiffs or strawberry or lemon s etc I mainly smell just dank weed and I've grown so many strains but I do have friends who can tell a strain just by smell just not me sadly

Your plants look nice though. Mine was an absolute monster in the 10 gallon pot, but was ugly AF. Your's are a lot darker than mine was. Interesting.

I picked this strain cause it was supposed to be an XL strain, but I got a bunch of midgets living in my tent. Their only 16-21 inches, no topping or lst. I still think I will get a pleasant harvest amount. Size is my next challenge to research. My first grow was 3 ft plants, which were grow 50/50 inside and outside.
I got tired of carrying plants in and out of the garage, so I bought a tent, and went full bore inside growing. But I havent been able to get my plants much over 20", I still cant really complain, even these short plants have given me 2-3 oz each, so far.

My sherbet yielded 20.5 oz dry. And I could've gotten more off of it, but we got hit with a totally out of the blue move. So I had to rush the trim and ended up composting a few oz towards the end.

My Strawberry Nuggets from that same run yielded 13.4 oz and that was supposed to be a "small" plant. That was a 5 gallon though.

Point to all of that ramble is I'm at a stage where I want to get photo yields from autos. Monster Hunting I call it. A lot of it has to do with pot size and such. Less early LST etc. I go over some of it in my indoor journal. I don't use soil or organics indoors though, I do outside. Inside it is coco and synthetics. More like a manual hydro system I guess.

I'm still a rookie, maybe some day I'll morph into the more advanced growing like a lot of you good folks do. Right now it looks like I'm in a soil/dry amendments mode. Once I feel I am consistently growing healthy plants, I will dip my feet into other area's of growing.
To be honest, If I had a 20 oz harvest, I wouldn't know wth to do with it all.

This is a wise play! I started canna growing after years of general gardening. Which was a great education in recognizing plant behaviors and signals. Then outdoor photo grows in soil. Then when I finally moved indoors to a tent, I was like MAN this is a lot nicer! So I dig your thinking.

Enjoy the sherb. I have offered it to friends along with some "fancier" strains - Night Owl and Mephisto. And my friends always want more Sherb. They can take it, or leave it, on the "fancier" stuff. Pretty interesting.
