Adding more light?

Hi!

Got a tent that's 4x2 with 2 x autocobs and 1 x 250w hps.
The hps is mainly used to add heat as both of them lights are at a distance of 27-30 inches away and I don't think the hps is helping with light at that distance as far as I understood.

I've got 5 pots of 3 gallon in there. The strains are 3 x auto orange bud and 2 x auto Brooklyn sunrise.
I'm thinking if the 2 auto cobs is enough?
How does it work when the plants get bigger?
Will they need more light then?
I've got a mars reflector 48 that I can replace the hps with.
But I don't know when the best time to do it, if I even should do it?

I can still use the hps as a heat source, put on a Termostat.
As I'm not sure how much heat the mars will bring I'll need to check that of course.

But I'm mostly wondering about the amount of light I should be getting in there with 5 plants, all seedlings at the moment (1-3 weeks)

It is not really about how many plants but more the area being covered by the lights The 2x4 = 8 sq ft. and a rule of thumb used to be 50w per sq ft. New lights are more efficient but your using the older lights. If the Mars reflector 48 is 300w at the wall and the autocobs are 50w each you have it covered.

Ps it is going to get crowded in there.

I'm not sure what w the cobs are, but yeah I think they should be 50w.
So basically I should be using the mars as well?
Or instead of the hps that is.

I got another hps that's more on the side, wich is on a Termostat.
I'll take some pictures maybe to provide a better view of my placement.
And how I was thinking to arrange my lights both to provide the right heat and light.

Yeah, might get crowded.. But I'm not expecting any massive yield. I've never been able to get more than 30-40 grams per plant.
I just still suck at it I guess haha.

I am averaging 160+g per plant now. We will get you up there. You should be able to get 1.5g/w in your set-up. So 600g should be possible in your space. The first thing is don't use HDL for heat. You need something to keep the temperature up at lights off as well as lights on. Get a small Oil filled space heater. If you cannot fit it inside the tent use it in the lung room.

The Mars will be more cost effetive but there are some desirable spectrum considerations in using the HDL in combination with the autocobs. Either way will grow good plants.

I top autos above the 4th node - that is all I do. I defoliate down low in late flower for air-flow. Other then that just let the plant grow - it knows how.

I can guarantee it's gonna be too crowded. Run a 2x4 myself and 4 plants was a mess, only doing 3 now and it's going to be tight as hell. They already touching the walls and each other and just starting bloom. And I love my MH lights, 3 x ts1000's

Hmm. Well... Maybe I should try to top them? Never done that, only used lst.
At least so they grow more even.

3 plants in a 2x4.....left one was topped and it never slowed down, just accellerated the growth of the 4 top branches.

This girl was topped 3 times and now takes up almost all of my 2x2
