Hey guys! Ima hijack this thread instead of making another newbie thread in your amazing section.

I just ordered 4 plant!t 5gal buckets, h2o2, rock wool cubes and I have a 4 outlet airpump from before(not sure lpm).

I also have my AN sensi bloom, voodoo, overdrive, carboload and Canna Coco a+b, pk and rhizo. Do you think either is more suitable for dwc?

Could you paste a airpump model name providing enough lpm for 4 pots?

When you're discussing bucket changes, do you actually replace the entire bucket to a clean one or just replace the water/nute solution?

When people mention bucket change they are talking about just completely changing out the nute solution. I've personally never used Canna nutes but AN is definitely easy to use and gets great results. For the air pump I would think this one is plenty good enough.

I'm currently trying to decide if I want to use carboload in my res or not and I'm leaning toward not using it. I've been doing a lot of reading on it and apparently people end up getting slime problems when using it in dwc. Kind of annoys me because I don't want to feel like I wasted 30$ on it lol. I bought it for my coco grows but then I switched to rdwc before I even really used it.

I use those hydofarm pumps and their clones. They are loud as fuck but they do work good.

@Anasazi thanks man I appreciate it! So perhaps two of those per two buckets? I want lots of bubbles! If lots and lots of air makes a big difference to growth along with preventing diseases I definitely want it!

How much lpm are you putting to each bucket bro?

I guess I should make an amendment to this thread and say that if you are going to use 50LPM from the start of your grow you MUST DIUSE THE AIR CORRECTLY!!! I have seen a couple of folks put lots of air into their buckets but not diffuse the air correctly and you end up with way too much turbulence for smaller roots that have just hit the rez. You need to make sure that your buckets have lots of bubbles yes, but you want to make sure that they are the tiniest bubbles you can get by adding enough air stones to diffuse all that air.

This is how your bucket should look as far as bubbles go, these are perfect you almost want the tiny bubbles to make almost a foam on top of the water like in this picture here.

@derek420colorado whats the best pump you would suggest if I was looking to get a pound in DWC and would it raise my water temps?

I have not seen it raise the water temps ever unless your pump is in a tiny box and it can heat the air up a little that is coming out of the hose, to combat this just make sure your air hose is pretty long to give it enough time for the air to cool down while it is blowing through the tube, if you are really worries about it you can run the hose into a bucket of water and then coil it up a few times on the bottom of the bucket and the out the top again so that the air has to pas through the tubing in the water therefore cooling it down. Also I need to know a little more about your DWC setup, how many sites/buckets are you planning to have?

I was planning on running about 2 buckets using a Active Aqua 20w (45 lmp) pump. The room will be cooled by AC

double that and get two of the active aquas if you can and run it with at least two lines to each bucket and two air stones on each line
