A couple of basic breeding questions

First up, I have managed too stress what was left of my last think different grow, it has begun developing male flowers, I had left a few popcorn buds on this plant as well, now my question is, should I a: let the plant self b: collect the pollen and pollinate another think different plant or c: not bother because both the seeds and/ or pollen would be far too prone too hermie.

My aim is to have a large pool of cheap think different seeds I can grow out crops from rather than breed further.

Second question, whats the difference bettween selfing using stress as opposed to collidial silver or gibberilic acid?

What stress did you put the TD thru? Be exact in your answer...

Hermi selfed will produce female, male, and more Hermi.. So bad idea... Breeding any stressed plant is a bad breeding practice. Stressing plants is a great test of genetics.. And IMO is a wonderful breeding practice to identify weak strain or non breeding individuals.

Cut it down to 15% of its original size (read harvest all but the smallest buds) then let it dry out for another 2 days and switched from 12/12 too 18/6 and also chucked a drop of superthrive in the first feed it had after drying her right out, that was about 8 days ago since then have been giving her weak feed. Plus temps are knocking on the door of 90 with this welcome but warm weather the uk has been having.

So in summery what did I do too stress her, Everything.

yes that may have caused the stress, TD is an auto and like any other MJ plant they may throw a nanner after the finish time... IMO the plant knows death is near and wants to do anything it can to produce a seed to continue its genetic line...

So in short the seeds and pollen would not be useful, no probs it was more a see if I could experiment. I shall reuse the soil then.
Thanks for the succinct explanation, so next question, is a female thats been reversed by chemicals any better than a stress reversed female.

The reason I ask is I would like to mess around with basic breeding and I dont have the space to house males.

yes I explained that... never use hermi pollen... never make fem seed from a strain that has known hermi genetics...

Heh yeah sorry if I seem a little dense at times, I just like to make sure I have read things correctly and have taken the correct information from it, my dyslexia can make what I read seem very far from what was said sometimes and as too my question about chemical reversing is that just as bad as stress reversals?

Thank you again for taking the time out to explain this what must be vey obvious answers to you.

no. You should read the CS threads here...

For my first post on this Site. Would you agree Cres, that pollen from a chemically stressed female is better used on another female or cut from the mom - ie. beans from the selfed plant may carry the hermie trait? I dont know - but I've read this in several places.
